Hi,
Im looking for 8.5 x 11" sheets of paper steel- that is, a thin layer of steel sandwiched between paper – thin enough to go through a direct feed inkjet printer. I bought some quite a while ago at a convention, and have run out. They had the thickness of a piece of heavy cardstock such printers can accomodate. I would like a US source if possible- anyone know offhand where I might look?
Thanks
R

Thanks- but I'm looking for US standard letter size if possible, not A4, and not adhesive backed, and if possible a US supplier- the .25mm thickness seems right though.

You might contact Renaissance Ink about this product of theirs: link

We have many customers who feed our PS through a straight feed printer. Renaissance Ink Paper Steel 8 x 11 check out the site renaissanceink.net

The Renaissance Ink steel paper is great stuff. You can glue it to any basing material to make it magnetically receptive. It provides a stronger attraction to magnetic surfaces than the peel and stick vinyl steel sheet. Highly recommend!

Great stuff! My FLGS once carried it but have gone to the rubber steel. I have been looking for some.

Well, I need 16 sheets. At Renaissance prices, thats about $88 USD, plus shipping. If Renaissance would like to sell me 32 sheets for $100 USD, pm me. Otherwise I will go with a less convienent, but cheaper (even with shipping) UK alternative I can cut down myself. The product is just what I want, but I'm afraid it's overly expensive per sheet for the quantity I need. I also may need 64 more sheets over the next year.

Litko sells it at $6.99 USD a sheet. link

You can get it as cheap as $0.90 USD a kilogram from a Chinese manufacturer, but you have to buy in bulk (500 kilo). link Good thing is they have a 500 Metric Tons per year capacity, so they can keep you supplied. grin

This is just from a simple Google search.

Reminds me of the old Steve Martin bit:

I have a good pick-up line for the laaaadies:

"yea, I'm rich."
"I bought cardboard at 2 cents per ton…so hey, you know…"
I went in for three tons, and now it's up to four cents, so…hah, you do the math"

"Oh, well..I don't like to talk about such things…but yes, my broker is the best- and, he lets me store MY carboard at my house."

"What's that? your friends want to come too?"

$7 USD a sheet is still a rip for that product, and I defy any of the folks selling it to defend their profit margin here. Unless they bought in bulk, in which case they got a lot of cardboard on hand, and do need to sell by the ounce to get their investment back.

BTW Dale, the litko product is not the same thing-theirs is a peel-off adhesive backed unit. I'm looking for a thin steel meat, paper bread sandwich. This seems to be why it's harder to find. Ren…. has exactly it. Exorbatantly priced. (is that a word?) I 'd like to buy some of their cardboard off them.

I just want to add that Jay Wirth is a stand-up guy, and I will give him my business.
