I am going to confine myself to late lamented "true 25mm" lines that date back to the early 1980s, before I dropped put for 10 years. I am putting no such constraint on anyone wishing tochime in. not that anyone would ay any attention if I dod. Nostalgia wants me to bring them back, but would they float today? That "scale" today is dominated by 28mm in multiple poses. These were scrawny (or not) with single poses per catalog line. Der Kriegspielers. I really liked the 25mm Continentals. They fit well on "1776" bases! And a Firing Line LOOKED like a "firing line", with all those identical poses. I understand that the 115mm lines, which were great, are available to Those In The Know. What was that company whose figures were sold by The Armoury in Baltimore, that made 25mm British Colonials? They were great for mass Dervish armies. The Frontier Miniatures line was great, particularly the Colonials. Terrific Boxers, Pathans, and a lot of odd little things like stretcher-bearers, heliograph teams, etc. I understand that some of these still have molds existing, but for odd reasons these are not in production. It's sad that you have to know a secret word and handshake to get these, or that the molds are just sitting in a dump somewhere because they were thrown out. Even sadder to think that someone is holding on to them because of an unrealistic feel for "what they are really worth". Perhaps it is due to my beginnings in TSATF with "true 25mm" figures, but I happen to feel that this is the ideal size for British colonial gaming. I think 15mm is too small for tabletop skirmish, and 28mm are just too large. I could be wrong. |

Great Endeavors also has the molds for the condotieri lines, though not listed specifically on his webstore, he has cast up some for me in the past. Personally I'd like to see all of the Tom Meier sculpted Ral Partha Orcs, Goblins and Elves back in production. |

Are Mikes Models still being produced? The local guys had a ton of them for 15mm TSATF gaming. I had a Mikes Models Norman army for Tactica. |

I second the nod for Dragontooth. I also like the old Heritage napoleonettes in 15mm. Need to flesh out a few units. In the old days I wasn't doing much in 25mm except for the Ral Partha fantasy stuff. |

Since I am more into fantasy than historical, mine are: 1. Chronicle miniatures (Nick Lund) 2. Old Citadel figures (Fantasy Tribe orcs, dwarves, skellies, all the pre-slotta ranges like half-orcs, oriental orcs and hobgoblins, etc.) 3. Old Glory fantasy orcs and dwarves (the range that they came out with before their Ghost miniatures range), still some of my favorite orcs 4. Ral Partha Tim Meier orcs and goblins – I have a bunch of the regular troops but need more command figures! 5. I am hesitant to add Dragontooth – they had some great concepts like the Amphibians vs. the Saurids or whatever those were (they had chariots, giant lizards with howdahs, crocodile men, fish men, saurids riding lizards) but really a lot of their sculpts were pretty dire, some were just barely-formed lumps! They did have some cool giants and dragons. |

Bring back Dragontooth and let the market decide which sell and which don't! Those Saurians were fantastic! |

In my not so humble opinion, anyone in possession of usable molds who is not cranking out figures deserves to
never be successful in their March Madness brackets! There! I said it! You know, "crude" does not really equal "bad". Heritage or whoever had some goofy Frog Roman Legionaries and they were crude, but I loved them. |

I miss the Der Kriegspieler's 25mm "Continentals" too. The range had a lot of really nice figures. It's a shame that it was never completed. I used to own a handful of Yucca 15mm World War II Germans, and foolishly let go of them years ago. The few I owned were really kind of nice, in their own way. It looks like Yucca 15s are gone for good too. Not everyone is going to agree with me on this one, and I confess to having mixed feelings myself. But I'm going to mention them anyway: Peter Laing 15mm figures. They were pretty crude, that's true. But I liked 'em anyway. |

The Naismith 25mm Aztec line was pretty good too. I liked the Citadel line of Dark Ages figures. Normans, Vikings, Byzantines, etc. |
| jpattern2 | 11 Apr 2013 7:51 p.m. PST |
I am hesitant to add Dragontooth . . . They did have some cool giants and dragons. The giants and dragons are exactly the sculpts I'd want re-released. Plus the Saurians and Amphibians. And some of the others. Tom Loback sculpted in molten wax, which explains a lot of the lumpiness of some of the sculpts. They had a lot of character, though. I know that, in the past, several miniature companies have contacted Tom, interested in re-releasing the sculpts. Each time he's said no, though. He has lost all interest in the miniatures market, but he also doesn't want to relinquish control of the masters. Darn it all! |

I second the regret that those loveable, lumpy 15mm Mike's Models are no longer available. I've read that the original molds – with the possible exception of the Renaissance line – where "thrown out" or destroyed, possibly by Essex when they acquired them. I have a couple thousand painted Mike's: Zulus, Dervish, Ansar, Egyptian, Sikh, and British from the Colonial line; and Teutonic Knights, Lithuanians, Prussians, Novgorodian Rus, Mongols, and sundry other foot and mounted figures from the Feudal and Medieval lines. I even have a Mike's siege tower and covered ram. For whatever reason I find them to have a lot of character. Perhaps it's because I'm short and lumpy, too. |

Loved the Falcon line of minis and Parthas. I also wish I would have bought more of the 15mm Yucca Chetniks when I had the chance. I decided about a month ago that I would plan a mega TSATF game for sometime this upcoming winter. Breaking out all the old Parthas, Falcons, MInifigs and homecast non-descript, clunky, poorly painted figs that I started gaming with in the 80's. |
piper909 | 22 Apr 2013 10:26 a.m. PST |
Some of the old Archive line, like that pumpkin-headed Bugbear. The Heritage LOTR Orcs, I still use what I have of these. But most of all, old Ral Partha elves and dwarves, esp. Elves. I lost so much of my old collection to "lead rot" (poor casting control or bad alloy? I had/have this problem more with Ral Partha minis than any one else). |
