I've been working on this scratchbuild project for a couple months now and I'm just about ready to begin painting, so I thought I'd post some progress photos while the wood is still visible. This represents PT41 at the time of MacArthurs rescue from Corregidor – the scale is 1/56 (28mm)

Very nice! But does it float? How are you going to wargame in the pool or bath otherwise?

That is superb looking!

Well done!

Okay, your next assignment, since you did so well on this one, is to constuct a 1/300th scale, British WWII, BPB MGB, with the "whaleback cockpit", similar to the above, in styrene.

That way, it can be cast in either resin, or metal (preferably the latter), for use with my Heroics and Ros Coastal Forces boats.

Please be sure to include torpedo tubes as an option, since they were fitted in some cases too, later in the war.

For extra credit, you can also model the second type, shorter bridge cockpit as well, like was usually used on the mid to late war MTB variants as well.

Of course, we'll be wanting sculpted crew figures for the bridge, and weapons, too.

Like MGBs 75 and 115 shown on this page:

And here are some pics of the finished boat:

vojvoda25 Apr 2013 2:26 p.m. PST

Now that is way way cool. You should do some E-Boats next!
Have no idea how to use them in a game but maybe a backdrop to a Pulp scenario?

I am assuming you hand carved the cabin and cockpit. This takes my breath away. I wish you had vacuformed the superstructure before assembly. I think you'd have a market for those.

Bravo Zulu.

johnnytodd04 Jun 2013 1:20 p.m. PST

Pyrate Captain: Thanks for the compliment, yes cabin structure was all hand carved. Building for reproduction would have added another level of complexity, and require a higher level of detailing. In this case I just wanted a complete boat in the end. Also, if I made copies then mine wouldn't be the only one!

Pyrate Captain06 Jun 2013 12:45 p.m. PST

It is unique. I am envious. If you have copious spare time (ha ha) and would like to contract to carve another basic superstructure, please let me know. I have been staring at a Lindberg hull for months now.

Absolutely fantastic! What a labour of love!
