I've used boardgames as the basis for campaigns and a lot of new rules seem to have incorporated some of the more popular boardgame activation mechanics. Folks also use things like Commands & Colors & ASL for miniature games so, is it worth adding a boardgame board to TMP for those items that span board/miniatures games? |

I thought there was one
But yeah. Aye. |

There already is one in the plus boards. |

Assuming three's the charm: "
a boardgame board
" already exists. |

This seems to be a perfect example of why some people are against board proliferation! |

Right – Didn't even know there was a TMP Plus – must have slept through that. So do board wargames really only have as much relevance to miniature games as music, food, health & fitness or home improvement? No offence to Bill but I think I'll just stick with BGG then

Just my thoughts, Crusaderminis
Yet kindle editions of novels set in periods of military history do make it into the main area through historical media? Sometimes TMP is strange

We also talk about boardgames within the main miniatures subject areas. Just depends on context really. To me they are all boardgames, it is just that the counters for some of them are in 3D. |

Well, it is The MINIATURES Page, so treating board games as a minor interest makes sense – why try and replicate BGG anyway ? Don't think The Editor (may he live forever) is anti-boardgames : he did design some after all. |

My wife and I own over 200, so I guess I should be FOR a Board game board. |

Similar situation – so many boardgames. Still think TMP doesn't need a more prominent Boardgames board. Unless every period board gets a boardgame board (so fantasy boardgames, napoleonic boardgames, WWII boardgames
.) |

Don't think The Editor (may he live forever)
I am chuckling over the way this is penned, almost as if the writer fears a knock on the door from the red caped Editor's Guards, ala Richelieu's guise in the (classic, 1970's version) of the Three Musketeers! |

Of course, boardgames that use miniatures can be discussed on the main forum. Sometimes TMP is strange
Sometimes democracy is strange

The PROBLEM is not the proliferation of Boards, but the segregation of the PLUS Boards. Some people do not want to sully their eyes with having Music or Broadcast Entertainment, so we have this little ghetto. They can always turn those Boards off. Why should I be able to post a thread about Game of Thrones, or Lord ofthe Rings, or Starship Troopers in Broadcast Entertainment, yet be unable to crosspost to Fantasy Media or scifi? What if I want to ask about AWI movies or Napoleonic movies? Same quandry. I am sorry if people don't want to see recipes for Chicken Marengo under Nappie discussion. That makes absolutely no sense. And yet, it has passed democratic muster, and been voted that way. Drop the barrier!

OK – I can't argue re the occasional strangeness of democracy

1. How many miniatures gamers DON'T play boardgames? 2. How often have you seen boardgame topics shoehorned into one of the "mainstream" boards? 3. How much duplication of effort exists between the "plus" Boardgames topics and the ones in the regular boards? Ron |

What's wrong on going to the TMP Plus boards for that?

TMP became more than just a MINIATURES page a long while ago. Whether I play C&C:Napoleonic or SAGA its all 'gaming' to me – in that respect I dont really care if it has miniatures or not. On the other hand if I bake a cake or put a shelf up I'm not likely to want to talk about it here :-) |

I am not bothered by people discussing board games here. But if you really want to "talk" board gaming then there is always BoardGameGeek, which is pretty much "THE" place to go for board gaming. boardgamegeek.com |

And you need a shelf to put that cake on. |

having more boards is lovely. Isn't that what they say? More Boards, lovely (TM), is the phrase you're looking for I think. |
