Depends on the project. If it is something that I really want to do and no one else does, then I will paint both sides. If the group is in, I will only paint a part or 1 army. I do think that every group has those guys that do more, but I still enjoy my friends gaming that don't contribute that much either in ideas or figures. Allen |

I paint both sides for the same reasons others have said – in order to play the game. Too many times, people move away or just not available on the day of battle. In fact, after painting both sides, I often paint a small "third force" for coalition games. Greg C. |

I collect both sides of periods I'm interested in. Our group has occasionally tried to do a collaborative project where each member provides a portion of the overall forces. Never seems to work. There is always some reason or other why some members can't finish, or even start, their portion. So, if I want to be sure I paint/collect both sides. |

I generally do both sides. |

Always both sides. I guess I think in terms of 'games I can put on' rather than 'miniature armies I own' most of the time. Regards |

I've done it both ways, but prefer to paint both sides, that way you don't have to worry about someone moving away or selling off their collection. |

Pretty much both sides for most periods – I like some periods that no one else likes |

Starting out the little group I was in grabbed a army to claim. I picked Prussians, later bought out the Russians (but not that many. Still my two favorites with British/allies and Bavarians and that's it. Not a Frenchman in the house. |

Both sides. People move, lose interest, even die. DM |

I'll do both sides for teeny-tiny 3mm or 'skirmish' games (which to me is anything up to 40k where very miniature can act somewhat independently) but I don't yet have the wargamers fortitude required to paint multiple Napoleonic armies
at least not until Victrix or Perry release the Young Guard in plastic. |

yup – both sides. If nothing else it ensures identical quality painting. |

Yep I usually end up painting all sides :( but I do like painting and seeing them on the table is a nice feeling rather than a load of unpainted lead on the table. |
