I was over at my friend Talisman's house Sunday evening for our usual biweekly game, and he was showing me possible WWI trenchlines he had found on GE.It looked so interesting that I downloaded it at home, and I've been having fun with it.I freaked my sister out(she lives on the otherside of the continent in California, and I've never been to her current house)by telling her she has a bench and a rosebush next to her front door.I just finished taking a virtual tour of Gettysburg, and for grins hopped over to Lancaster to look at the Host, and its patchy lookin roof.

I was trying to figure out how the Old Mole really looked at St. Nazaire, and eventually I realized I could just go for a virtual stroll around the docks. Just loved it.

I use Google Earth frequently when preparing a WW2 game.

Likewise. I also use it for reconnaissance when preparing battlefield tours. I was just 'walking' the route I'm going to take my Dad through 's-Hertogenbosch in a couple of weeks.

GE has been great for Stalingrad scenario building, since many (well, some) of the original buildings are still standing.

I've looked at ACW, 7YW, Napoleonic battlefields, and places I haven't been in 30 years. Finding old places in Europe with new names is difficult but a eureka moment when you are sure you have it.

I used Google Earth to help design the scenery for my Rifsker Viking game. When I ran it at Genghis Con, I showed folks the satellite recon photo, which amused them.

It is a lot of fun to get overhead views of my favorite battlefields.
