Hmmm – believe it when I see it…….. and to be written by the guy who wrote Heroes? – more Hmmmm – the recent radio series are quite good though……

J Womack 9409 Apr 2013 11:19 a.m. PST

That might be fun.

Dark Knights And Bloody Dawns09 Apr 2013 11:50 a.m. PST

How long before it gets pulled and replaced by WWF?

Wonder how much they'll change. And will the actors be, well, kinda plain looking ? grin

Mick A09 Apr 2013 1:06 p.m. PST

There will only ever be one Servalan to me…

Brandlin09 Apr 2013 1:45 p.m. PST

It won't be blakes 7 without Paul Darrow

SonofThor09 Apr 2013 1:51 p.m. PST

Ugh, yet another classic series to be ruined by post modern sensibilities. But just like Doctor Who I'm going to be suckered into watching the first season.

Spudeus09 Apr 2013 2:00 p.m. PST

I'm still waiting for the original on Region 1 DVD!

What came first, the chicken or the egg? laugh

Good news.

Nothing will beat the original for me.

Poi00010 Apr 2013 4:57 a.m. PST

I thought that going into BSG, but was thankfully proved wrong, apart from the very end which was lame.

Dr Who however is going downhilll fast with Matt Smith in the lead.

Nowami10 Apr 2013 12:40 p.m. PST

So instead of cardboard sets we'll get cardboard actors . . .

AWuuuu10 Apr 2013 2:39 p.m. PST

If they would do it like DR Who I would be delighted..

Unfortunately SyFy trademark is cheap and bad stuff :)

Servalan and Avon are quite hard to recreate.
Morena Baccarin from V could try to replicate Servalan style quite good, I am not sure if she would be able to recreate her malice :)
But I am unable to imagine some good Avon

Helen Mirren would be good for Servalan

for Space Commander Travis:
James Purefoy (Mark Anthony in Rome)
Ciarán Hinds (Caesor in Rome, and Mance Rayder in Game of Thrones)

Alan Rickman would be good as Avon, but it might be too similar to his role in Galaxy Quest

Stephen Graham for Vila, I know he's best known for playing hardmen but he is very versatile, see his role in Snatch.

I loved the first series of Heroes but the quality dropped considerably after that with a clear lack of direction . It should have a planned story arc over a limited number of seasons like BSG.

Aliens can easily be justified as genetically engineered creatures adapted from humans to tereform worlds, who develppe their own culture and don't want to complete the job and hand them over after many generations. Human colonisation of space is centuries old the Blake's 7 universe.

The involvement of SyFy is not encouraging

Wizard Whateley10 Apr 2013 6:15 p.m. PST

Helen Mirren is way too old for Servalan.

"Dr Who however is going downhilll fast with Matt Smith in the lead."

I can't disagree with this strongly enough; Smith is far and away the best Doctor of the 'new batch'. Not to say either of the other two were BAD, I love Ecclestone and Tennant, I just think Smith is better. Really gets across the feel of a very old man in a young man's body.

"Dr Who however is going downhilll fast with Matt Smith in the lead."

Can't agree with this strongly enough! From being an avid fan, he's completely switched me off, I've not watched an episode since his first series…

Sorry, but he is just so bland….

Despite the disappointment of the John Carter of Mars failure, it was better to have some John Carter than no JC. I feel the same about B7. its not like there was no room for improvement in certain aspects of the show although most of the key actors were excellent the effects and scripts could be creaky at times, and an occasional campness which for me jarred with dark tone.

Dont get me wrong, i loved it, but i have hopes that it will be worth the watch.

AWuuuu15 Apr 2013 5:04 a.m. PST

Rickman would probably be able to be Avon but he is too old IMHO..

Cumberbatch would be Ok too
but he looks to young :>

TamsinP19 Apr 2013 5:55 p.m. PST

Maybe Ioan Gruffudd as Avon?

The involvement of SyFy is not encouraging

Prior to a week ago I would have echoed that statement, but I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the Defiance pilot – it lacked the typical Syfy awfulness.

evilmike08 May 2013 8:53 a.m. PST

This will not end well.

SyFy…..ick.

Me neither.

tkdguy08 May 2013 9:40 p.m. PST

I'll give the new series a look. I expect a lot from it, though.
