Hi all

I need some advice on the above.

Do I choose a starter set from Irregular or Peter Pig?

Both have starter armies that I would like to have.

The Peter Pig figures are imo better looking, but more expensive.

The Irregular figures are imo not that good looking but the prices are excellent. I have also read multiple posts on these forums where positive remarks are being made iro their service.

Your input and suggestions will be much appreciated.

Irregular vary considerably from range to range. The WWI are in my opinion amongst the better ranges. They tend to be slimmer and better proportioned than the Peter Pig ones but will sell you a random mix of variants so if you are going for a certain look they may be less "uniform" than you were hoping (only really a problem if you are after Russians). So I guess it is just down to personal taste in sculpting style – order some samples from both …

Be careful when using Irregulars photos of their ranges. They are invariably much better in real life. Even then they often look rough until you put the paint on, then the detail appears by magic. The WW1 ranges is very, very good at least for 1918 British and German anyway. Peter Pig's are also excellent. You have share choice ahead.

I will second bruntonboy's assessment as far as their pictures. Looking at the pictures on the Irregular website I would never have bought their stuff. I did buy a Great Northern War army and it looks great. However their pictures did keep me from going with their 6mm WW1, went 10mm Pendraken instead.

Thanks for the informative responses. I will be getting some Irregular minis, to wit Bulgarians and Serbs.

Irregular's figures have a lot of character to them. In mass, sometimes it looks a tad odd, but I have founf them to be compatible with most other ranges when mixed as well.

I have scads of both Peter Pig and Irregular. I use Irregular for the Balkan Wars. As stated above, once you paint on the figures, they look just fine. I also have some Irregular RCW Bolsheviks. In my opinion, they are really nice. I use Peter Pig for my most of my RCW armies. Excellent figures that never disappoint. IMO you're dealing with 2 good companies with great products.
