IMHO it is still time to remove those epaulettes (hussars never had them), which spoil otherwise nicely sculpted figures and will detract from the good painting job you are doing right now.

Agreed GC – lose the epaulettes – swift cut with a sharp knife, and much better.

Steve -

The only "hussars' which wore side plumes and had colpacks were the Chasseurs a cheval of the French Guard. I would remove them. The fur colpack was only worn by the elite company of hussars and by some officers.

The question of the color of plumes is very complex. Most common were plain black or dark green (for light cavalry), sometimes with about the top 25% in facing color. Officers sometimes had white plumes, the elite company red, and the musicians' plumes could be any color.
