I have picked up another prepainted rebel unit, dark green hunting shirts with red cuffs also wearing uncocked hats and dark brown trowsers. Does anyone have any idea of a unit that matches this description? Thank you in advance. |

First Rifles were green hunting frock with yellow fringe. They also wore shakos as they were military, and not militia. Green with red cuffs is likely either some frontier militia, or more likely just the painters whim. |

At least in the F&I and AWI rifle frocks don't have cuffs. |

None. At least not according to any regulation or deserter description I've ever seen. I suspect it's a War of 1812 Uniformed Militia uniform. A picture would be helpful. Eric |

Is there a way to upload pictures directly to TMP? These are Old Glory 15s. The cuffs are just shirt cuffs, no buttons. |

I was actually thinking of the 1st Continetal Rifle regiment. They were supposed to be in gren faced red, but ended up in green hunting frocks with some officers in the official uniform. I think their uniforms were captured prior to being issued. Troiani has a print of them with their flag, officer in green faced red and troops in green frocks. Perhaps your painter added the red cuffs with the idea that the troops would have had those on the frocks. |

Is there a way to upload pictures directly to TMP? When I want to do it, I cut and post a link to the picture. If I took the picture, I put it in Photiobucket, and then use the links provided. |

Thank you Gentlemen. As I look at the figures, they are a bit dark so it may be the painter added the red "cuffs" just to brighten them up a bit. I may just paint them out. |

Here is the 1st Pennsylvania as they might have been had they not had all of their uniforms captured by the British (stored away at a supply depot that had to be abandoned during the retreat across New Jersey in 1776):
These are Fife & Drum Miniatures. |

That's funny! I found it in about 20 seconds! Sometimes we all have bad days. |

Update on the cuff issue, I just stumbled on an email from Stephen Gilbert reporting the 6th VA wore brown pullover hunting shirts with red wool cuffs and collars so it would seem some hunting shirts could have cuffs dyed a different color and even a different fabric! |

1st VA wore undyed hunting shirts with a strip of red wool on the collar and cuffs |

Thank you Number4. I stumbled on this figure: link This is the regiment I have, although the green on my troops is darker, probably too dark. I see the 1st VA has a reenactment group and they have some pictures of men with the red cuffs: 1va.org/uniform.html |
