I've been fortunate with folks here suggesting very good products in a couple of other eras, and now I'm hoping for similar results here. I'm looking for 25/28mm Western figures – preferably cowboys, gunfighters, outlaws or lawmen, either gringos or chicanos. If anyone has a preferred line, I'd like to hear about them! Thanks, in advance, for your help! |

I use a mixture of Dixon, Artizan and Foundry, with a few Knuckleduster thrown in as well. Were you looking for something more specific than a general list of manufacturers? |

Old Glory makes some nice ones complete with settlers and all that. Here's the Marshals, Sheriffs & Lawmen:

Just off the top of my head: Blackwater Gulch Reaper Chronoscope and Savage Worlds Brigade Games Foundry Gorgon Artizan Old Glory Dixon Knuckleduster Shadowforge Victoria Lamb (midget gunslingers) Black Scorpion (very big) Malifaux (somewhat big) Most of my models are Reaper, Brigade, and Foundry. I have a little bit of everything, though. Right now my biggest interest is in Blackwater Gulch. Their minis are very good, but they are quite new and we're waiting for the next wave of releases later this year. |

We use Artizan and Foundry with some coming from the Blackwater Gulch kickstarter soon. |

I also got the Good Guys set from Ainsty Castings. I like their Abe Lincoln. |

I wil start by saying that there are so many great cowboy figures out there that I would honestly choose some from every range ---- That being said, Old Glory has the WP range listed above as well as the "cowboys wars" range that has close to a 100 different figures, both mounted and dismounted versions. There is also the Blue Moon 25/28mm named western characters to consider. Also we can supply all your wagons, stagecoachs and IMHO one of the best and largest lines of resin western buildings on the market. No one has more cowboy stuff !!! All of this under one roof, lowest prices and made in America. Regards Russ Dunaway |

Our range can be seen here and are compatible with a number of ranges. Ours are 28mm to the eye and are sculpted by Paul Hicks. link |

I think some of the best figures for the Wild West are done by Blue Moon. Excellent figures and paint up really well. |

Actually, colgar, what I got from you and the rest was just what I was hoping for: "I like line X" which has led me, in the past, to examining all the preferred choices. I've found that recommendations from the folks here on TMP have been very useful, so, thanks for all the ideas! |

Personal preference is for Black Scorpion (just really appeal to me, and have a nice range). I really like what I'm seeing coming out from Great Escape Game's new line for Dead Man's Hand. I have some Knuckleduster and while they're nice they're quite small (which combined the big Black Scorpion makes them tough to use). I prefer any of the less-campy lines. I really like the Blue Moon townsfolk box
may have to pick it up some time. |

<<I prefer any of the less-campy lines. >> I've bought so many historical models that camp is all I have left! |

I like the Artizan figures. Although a little pricey, they are excellent quality and detail. These figures are heroic scale, so they fit in perfectly with most 28mm lines. I find they blend nicely with Knuckleduster and Blue Moon figures (both of which I like -- especially for civilians/NPCs). My one recommendation is actually tough to type. Although I love the Black Scorpion figures, the truth is that at 32 mm they just tower over every other figure on the table. Whereas one or two very tall figs add some nice variety, adding too many of them make things look "odd." A note about Foundry: I love their sculpts, but they tend to look a bit small when compared to modern figures. Personally, I have no issues mixing and matching figs on the table, but this bothers some people. Hope this info helps! |

BTW: Have not yet seen the Blackwater Gulch figs in person, but I'm excited about 'em and want to get some. |

In this search, one thing I'm not concerned about is uniform height. I'm going to be using the minis with Bob Faust's "Brink of Battle," which is pure 1 to 1 scale skirmish. Differing heights would make things more interesting – I've never seen a group of 20+ people wherein everyone is the same height! :) |
