Very nice.

yes, he has a real swagger about him… but the back of the kilt doesn't look right – no pleats?

Wherwolfe08 Apr 2013 6:06 a.m. PST

Why you think the back of the kilt is not right? What do you mean?

By the way this is my second 54mm sculpture I did in my life, I guess there are many points to improve yet, perfection is always such as utopia.

'perfection is always such as utopia' may be so but
1. pleats on a kilt are not Utopia
2. if you are going to sculpt figures maybe do a wee bit more research to get the basics right.
3. good luck with your future works.

as the last poster says – kilts are not smooth material at the back like they are at the front – they have lots of pleats at the back. In the British army the number of pleats would even be prescribed in the dress regulations for the regiment.

This isn't about perfection – it is about getting the basic details right. You would not put the wrong headgear or equipment on a figure surely?

The sculpt is very good in many other ways – but has a design flaw which makes it historically inaccurate. Treat it as a opportunity and learn from it.

and he seems to have fringed epaulettes, not wings. Is he meant to be Napoleonic era? Cannot think of any British infantry wearing such.

With so much work surely gone into this, well worth getting some expert help early on, if your work is to be taken seriously.
