I wasn't sure where to post these, as the ship models are historical (early 20th century through modern) but the game I had intended them for is not historical.

But anyway, I posted some new photos of ship miniatures on Irvania.com here:

Nice work on all of those! I have a small collection of the Revell-Germany ships, but your paint jobs put mine to shame.

I built the Aida a few years ago as a waterline model, with the intention of using it in a one-off Man O' War fantasy naval wargame. I plan to spring it on players as a surprise, a modern cruise ship that sails into a small warpstorm and emerges in the seas of the Warhammer Old World. It will serve as the target in a "capture the flag" scenario.

I hope I didn't just short-circuit historical naval gamers' brains with that last paragraph. :)

I was *cough* thinking of using Man O' War fantasy ships with this project too. The MOW ships are a lot smaller than these, but the overall scale seems to be about right.

I'm not sure whose brains would explode first, "serious" Man O' War players or "serious" historical naval gamers.

Any Carnival Cruise Lines ships?
You could use Nurgle Plague Man O'War ships for them.

One of the items on my "to do" list is to build an iceberg tip, mounted on a wooden base like the ships, to follow the Titanic around on the game tabletop. Presumably the player controlling the Titanic would be able to use the iceberg as an offensive weapon to ram enemy ships

Consult the historical records, in Galaxy Quest. Remember the magnetic mines being "towed" by the … Enterprise(?)

The thought did cross my mind.

That cruise ship that hit the coast of Italy last year and has been sitting on its side ever since does look a bit like the Aida.

Yeah, for a while there a month or so ago it seemed like every week brought a new cruise ship horror story. Very Chaotic, in the Moorcockian sense of the word.
