hah – was just going to post the link – some very interesting and powerful pics combined in the case of the comments section with some fairly atypical and ignorant views by the public (I'd imagine that except for example for any real pacifists, most of the 'war is terrible and pointless/why print these photos' type comments wouldn't be applied to the war against the nasty Nazis etc)- and i'd apply that to both some of the comments of both left (as above)and right (with the cartoon stereotype of the lefty BBC -yes the corporation that brought you a series on Afghanistan from the British Army pov called 'Our War', that covers Trooping the Colour and Remembrance Sunday etc)- my interest is always in pics of the fighting men and more generally the life of normal people on both sides. It does raise an interesting philosophical point though re considering them solely as pieces of art/photos – if they were say of Waffen SS troops in Russia would people still say that.
