And if so:
How?
What?
When?

Going for the whole shebang or a single day or a single episode?

Rules and figures?

My circle is focusing on Brandy Station. It is an excuse to have a real cavalry fight.

Pictors Studio07 Apr 2013 7:09 a.m. PST

No.

Marcus Maximus07 Apr 2013 7:17 a.m. PST

Hvaing still not got arund to painting my Redoubt figure collection, I will have to settle for GCACW – Raods to Gettysburg instead……

Rich Bliss07 Apr 2013 7:30 a.m. PST

Yes. We're running all three days at Little Wars on April 27th. Rules are Volley and Bayonet. The figures we'll be using are 28mm and will be familiar to anyone who owns the original scenario book.

Texas Jack07 Apr 2013 7:36 a.m. PST

Iīm finishing up the Union and hope to be able to get enough Rebs to do something, but I donīt know what yet. I just hope we can get a win this time!

6mmACW07 Apr 2013 7:50 a.m. PST

Absolutely! Our local club has been thinking about this for the last two years. We'll be fighting the entire 3-day battle in 6mm scale on a custom 8'x5' table that we're building just for this event! Over the last year, we've been play-testing a set of grand tactical rules designed for a big multi-player battle. We'll be playing on a Saturday in late June/early July. Very excited!

CraigSpiel07 Apr 2013 8:08 a.m. PST

I am flogging around a 54mm Pickett's charge using Battle Cry and Britains Deetail figures. In its debut it generated NO interest….but I will keep trying!

At Historicon, we're doing Hood's assault on Devil's Den and Little Roundtop using 40mm figures. Ground scale is 1"=10 yds, figure scale roughly 1:10 … so it should be quite a show.

Larry Gettysburg Soldiers07 Apr 2013 1:21 p.m. PST

At ORIGINS, we will be running games spanning all three days of the battle, adapting scenarios from Enduring Valor and using GETTYSBURG SOLDIERS rules.

Sparker07 Apr 2013 1:59 p.m. PST

Yes. Our FLGS, Hall of Heroes, Campbelltown New South Wales, will be running a mega game refight in over 3 days on the last weekend in June.

28mm figures, mainly Perry, using slightly adapted Black Powder rules. We will be fighting over over 300 square feet of professionally modelled terrain…

You can judge how spectacular its going to be by reading the article in this months Wargames Illustrated about our Borodino 200th refight last year….And that was much smaller in scale!

Field Marshal07 Apr 2013 6:00 p.m. PST

Im in the game with Sparker and I cannot wait!

John Thomas807 Apr 2013 6:16 p.m. PST

I'm starting at Brandy Station:

as a public game, then soloing the rest of Scott Mingus' Cross Sabres, the last three scenarios at Gettysburg.

Old Contemptibles07 Apr 2013 9:13 p.m. PST

Probably will do the first day using "Mr. Lincoln's War" in 15mm. Brandy Station is a definite possibility. We just started trying out MLW after years of playing "Johnny Reb." We need a few more games under our belt to know if this will be our new set of rules for ACW. But the first game was promising.

2nd Kentucky07 Apr 2013 9:16 p.m. PST

I am doing seven or so scenarios over the course of four days.

Heth v. Buford Opening Volleys
Iron Brigade Fight
Ewell's Attacks on Culps Hill
Wheatfield/Peach Orchard/Devil's Den
Little Round Top
Pickett's Charge
3rd Day Cavalry Fight

general btsherman08 Apr 2013 3:14 a.m. PST

I'm planning on doing the first day and the Peach Orchard. If they go well I will probably run them at Fall-in this year.

Yes. Full scale 1:1 gaming.

I'll be with the 28th PVI. The whole four days, and maybe taking Monday off to recover.

grin

Oh, and I think my group might be doing something 15mm-ish on our G-burg terrain boards with Fire and Fury too…

Loren Haberkamp will be running an expanded Regimental Fire & Fury "Little Round Top" Game at LittleWars. The scenario has been expanded to cover more of Hoods Assault. Amazing terrain and troops.

john lacour08 Apr 2013 12:40 p.m. PST

our small club will be doing the first day in 15mm using jr3.

vojvoda09 Apr 2013 9:51 a.m. PST

Not right now but If I get back east before Fall In! I will try and run a JRIII Longstreet's Corps at Gettysburg scenario.

Yes, in September using DBACW on a 8 foot x 6 foot purpose made terrain board, which will cover the whole battlefield (based on 16" = 1 mile).
With one infantry base representing 1000 men. The game will last 100 game turns (30 day 1, 40 day 2 and 30 day 3) we intend to complete the game over a w/e starting on a Friday evening finishing on a Sunday afternoon, with DBACW this is easily achievable. Logistics, Command & Control and artillery ammunition supply will be key features of the game.

We just finished the playtest for a Regimental Fire & Fury Gettysburg Game. The game is being run by Loren Haberkamp at LittleWars. It is an expanded Little Round Top Scenario. Probably one of the best Civil War Games I have ever played in. It is a hard fought game and had a historical result, meaning The rebs were aggressive in their attacks, the Union line was threatened many times and it was only by the timely intervention of reserves that stabilized the lines. It was only the lack of fresh troops on the confederate side that saved the day. If only Pickett was present.

HammerHead14 Apr 2013 10:24 p.m. PST

yes… for real, travelling from UK. Some friends are playing a wargame at Gettysburg with a local club there

uglyfatbloke19 Apr 2013 5:00 a.m. PST

Yup,
We (wife and I) will be doing the whole she-bang in 28mm – 20 foot table and about 2500 figures/40 cannon and using our home-brewed rules…sort of DBA with various mechanisms inspired by (OK…stolen from) Black Powder and with a bit of randomisation for arrival of formations.

Old Slow Trot19 Apr 2013 6:38 a.m. PST

Hoping to make it there myself,E.P..

I want to do maybe the whole shebang but using Napoleonic troops, Napoleonic Rules, Gettysburg OOB, Gettysburg terrain. (It's all I got but love ACW)

epturner21 Apr 2013 5:37 p.m. PST

Old Slow Trot;
What unit? Maybe we can have an adult beverage together?

Have played the entire battle at least a half dozen times over the years. Might be a good time to have a go again this summer with my most recent rules.
