Some days ago, dear editor inform us that anyone who decided to stifle him, automatically his account would be locked and he went to exile. I guess it was a surprise to some of the 62 people who had stifle dear Editor and don't know if any of them had tried to explain their resons to get back. But it seems that some of our beloved members decided to send their "plane" directly to dear Editor ship anyway. His account increased now to 64. Wasn't better to retire in a more elegant way? Now the risk is that some people began to open accounts with the only purpose to stifle dear Editor. (??!!) Amicalement Armand |

Now the risk is that some people began to open accounts with the only purpose to stifle dear Editor. (??!!) Now who would do that? And why is that a "risk"? I am sure that many of my 174 stifles are from people no longer here. I would not be surprised to find out that 90%+ are long gone. The numbers for Dear Editor are probably the same. If you had a locked account and didn't know why, wouldn't the first thing you would do would be to contact DE to find out why? When some people leave in a huff, they stifle the Editor, and I would not be surprised to know that a lot of them created multiple accounts to do the same. It amuses them to do so. And that is one more factor in favor of stifles. It amuses them. don't we all come here to be amused? I know I do, and after all, "it's all about me". OK, cue the "Only crybaby bedwetters stifle", and "You must lead a sheltered life that you can only listen to those who agree with you" bovine excrement. blah blah blah |

His account increased now to 64. Well, one of those (at least!) is Mr. Invercargill
TMP link Wasn't better to retire in a more elegant way? You mean, when they post a long tirade about why they're leaving? Now the risk is that some people began to open accounts with the only purpose to stifle dear Editor. (??!!) Well, some people open accounts just to say something insulting, so why not? |

John, I'm pretty sure that people open many accounts with the only purpose to stifle other people. Some of them had said that to me. And I'm sure that I suffer, undoubtedly, your same problem with the amount of stifles. What I cannot believe is that people lost his time with such baseness. Amicalement Armand |

Well, I was writting when you, Bill, post your thread. People open accounts just to say something insulting is more low even. Maybe this can be resolved if all who want to post here had to put his real name and adress?. And if his mail is not chequed, he cannot post even.? Amicalement Armand |

I don't call it "suffering", though. |

Maybe this can be resolved if all who want to post here had to put his real name and adress? I thought so once, too. I read it on the Internet (so it must be true) that China or Saudi Arabia, or one of those wide open free societies is going to require that on Twitter accounts. Anonymity is a good thing, particularly if you are paranoid, or think you have a good reason to be. (Which is the same thing. Or not.) Why do so many revolutionaries pen columns with names like Cato or Brutus? |

"What I cannot believe is that people lost his time with such baseness." Some people have very limited and unsatisfying lives, so they have plenty of time for such nonsense. Thank GAWD I'm not one of them. |

Maybe folks like this should devote more time to painting and scratchbuilding. Or maybe coloring books over to the nervous hospital. |

"Why do so many revolutionaries pen columns with names like Cato or Brutus?" I thought it was because their real names were weak and reedy. |

Maybe this can be resolved if all who want to post here had to put his real name and adress? Impractical to prove if someone is "real." And if his mail is not chequed, he cannot post even.? Mr. Invercargill apparently doesn't care whether he can post, so he uses obvious bogus email addresses when he signs up for his account. So he can't post, because his email won't verify. |

What about ID number or credit card nb? Amicalement Armand |
John the OFM | 06 Apr 2013 6:40 a.m. PST |
As I have said before, everyone who comes here hs a different way of enjoying their TMP experience. Apparently, Mister Invercargill has chosen a different path. |
Editor in Chief Bill | 06 Apr 2013 8:24 p.m. PST |
What about ID number
For one things, Americans don't have ID numbers, so that's a problem

or credit card nb? Only way to verify that would be to charge something to the credit card. Which would mean all the Basic Members would essentially have to become (paying) Supporting Members
Besides, we already require a valid email address to be able to be "trusted" and able to post on the forums. |

Apparently, Mister Invercargill has chosen a different path. Mister Invercargill has learned that I can block his IP address
(until he gets a new one, that is). |
