I'm looking for a scenario for the first day of Gettysburg to play with a set of regimental level rules. Specifically the fight centered on Herr and McPherson's ridge in the morning.

Surprisingly, I haven't been able to find one online or as being published in any scenario books.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi Ken,
I have a nice one in an old Zouave magazine. Send me a PM with your e-mail address if you want me to send it to you.

There is a whole series of Day one Scenarios in Scott Mingus' books on Gettysburg, I think there are also several in the Issues of Charge. His Embattle Courage series in out of print but pops up here and on Ebay and Abe Books from time to time.

That's the first place I thought of, but the scenario book (I believe it's called "Enduring Valor") is out of print and I can't find a copy.

That's a purchase then. Thanks!

Did you check Wargames Vault or the fireandfury yahoo group?

Check out Crossed Sabers, Scott Mingus' cavalry campaign from Brandy Station to Gettysburg. The last three scenarios cover the three days of Gettysburg and your specific request is the 7th in the book, complete with OOBs, regiment sizes and dispositions.

Isn't the Crossed Sabers book just cavalry scenarios?

John Thomas806 Apr 2013 12:09 a.m. PST

Yes, but the initial contact was between Buford and Heth, which fits into the cavalry campaign quite nicely.

The scenario is called First Shot, on page 35, covers exactly what you want with regiment OOB and troop strengths for each.

Ivor Janci, my publisher, is planning to reissue Enduring Valor as a pdf file.

If you pick up a copy of the latest issue of WS&S, the magazine is chock-full of 1st day scenarios.

Can WGS&S be downloaded any where like WGV? How about the Mingus book? Thanks.
