Recently I saw a TV programme about the hidden dangers in Victorian life from substances concealed in everyday objects. It got me wondering if all this handling of metal miniatures might, at some time in the future, be discovered to result in 'Wargamers' disease'. I'll leave you to consider what the symptoms, prognosis and cure would be. |

From other topics posted about this om TMP I think it was mentioned that some people were getting tests done and after a good number years of handling miniatures in the workplace there was no sign of lead poisoning etc |

I worked for a 54mm figure maker back in the 1980's (I painted for him). He would regularly carve his lead master figures while smoking cigarettes. The lead dust on his hands transferred to his cigarettes and voila, he had lead poisoning. The dose was not severe, but enough to cause his doctor to order up a sequence of "chelator" treatments to "pull" the lead out of him. |

What does it matter? You can't die until you finish all your unpainted lead anyway. |

It's called "Obsessive-Compulsive Miniatures Buying Disorder". Its symptoms are an uncontrollable urge to buy the last shiny thing that hits the market; accumulation of unpainted lead/ungamed rulesets; pre-orderitis or, in its last avatar, Kickstarteritis. The affected individual will show irritation, anguish and, if married, feelings of guilt, if he doesn't get the miniatures in less than 24 hours, even if they must be shipped from the other end of the world. |

@ mjkerner – that's not quite correct. You can die with unpainted lead, but as soon as you don't have any unpainted lead you are certain to die. |

It can lead to COTARD. Compulsive Obsessive Triumph Acquisition & Repair Disorder. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. |
