I must say that TMP is the first website since I have begun surfing the interwebz many years ago that I actually pay attention to the banner ads at the top. There are some seriously cool websites and sellers that advertise on this site, and it is nice that they all actually relate to the hobby as opposed to getting a bunch of car insurance ads or something else random. Props to TMP.

Not only that, but when you're on (for instance) the ACW pages on TMP, you're more likely to see banners advertising ACW products, etc.

I believe that it's called an ambush.

I believe that it's called an ambush.

I always thought it was common courtesy.

It is customer serviced/interest marketing and there is nothing wrong with that.

"I believe that it's called an ambush."

Mmmm… I think that it is providing a service to your target audience. It's call marketing.

It also steers ads you're not interested in away from you. So if you're on the historical boards, for instance, you're less likely to see a banner for a fantasy product.

It's still an ambush. It's just kinder than most. Thanks(?)

The ads are one of the things I really like about TMP. I've found a lot of things to spend my money on here! Thank you Bill for helping me drain my checking account! grin

Doesn't seem to match the definition of ambush marketing: link

Point taken. However, my wallet takes a beating sometimes because of your excellent marketing strategy. So, while it's not exactly 'ambush marketing' I still feel a little 'down range' at times.
