I'm from that era when people actually pushed little pieces of cardboard around on bigger pieces of cardboard to play games – without any computer help at all!

One fun thing we used to do was use an operational level game to generate a campaign and battle game. I'm trying to think of a few others, including perhaps magazine games like "Against the Odds" that are from the tricorne era. The only one I can think of – and I have it – is the excellent "1777: Year of the Hangman" which would be a perfect game for that purpose. It'd also be perfect for Maurice in miniature.

NOTE: not looking for games about just one battle – they need to include the campaign that leads up to the battle, also.

Are there any others that people know of?

I believe "Tarleton's Quarter" from Against the Odds would fit the bill.

GMT games has an AWI that would fit the bill you are looking for. I forget the name, maybe "Washington's War". I'll look for the link and get back to you.

There are a bunch!! go to:

Look where the games are listed by period. I must own at least 30 or probably more.

Soldier King works well.

For SYW, Campaigns of Frederick the Great ought to provide a solid foundation for a campaign.

GMT and Avalanche are both good suggestions to check out. While I don't mind browsing their catalogue, it'd be great if someone had a particular game that they think would suit based on their play of it.

As in…"I own their "Campaign of Emsden" game and it covers the entire theater of operations, supply and other issues and gives good reasons to fight battles big and small in various locations."

Tarleton's Quarter is another good choice, I forgot about that one. It'd be fabulous if there was a game like that in the 7YW on the continent.

There was a boxed campaign module for Scotty Bowden's Napoleonic Empire rules years ago that is perfect. Maybe it can be found on E-Bay.
2nd best is the Canadian Wargamers Habitants & Highlanders has a great FIW campaign that is available from On Military Matters.
Peter Pigs rules usually include campaign guidelines, though they are unconventional.
Columbia Games 18th century games make for good campaigns.
S&T magazine has a fairly recent game out on the campaigns of Marlbough & another on the Seven Years War in Europe. Both would fit the bill.

I've used AH 1776 several times, and it gives a great campaign system.

Another vote for Columbia Games – their block games have a nice element of "fog of war", and convert easily to tabletop strengths.
