I did a small Song of Blades dungeon crawl and figured I'd share:

Enjoy!

Annnd…that title came out just plain wrong. That should definitely be "LICH".

I don't know, Lick King is kind of titillating. evil grin

ImhotepMagi04 Apr 2013 7:37 a.m. PST

Thanks. I didn't think Tir Norak wanted to be licked.

However, now I have ideas for another type of camapaign…

Space Monkey04 Apr 2013 11:20 a.m. PST

Those figures are a fun mix. I should make a set of cardboard dungeon terrain for RPG nights when not enough players can make it.

I didn't think Tir Norak wanted to be licked.

I thought she was looking forward to it. evil grin

SonofThor04 Apr 2013 9:35 p.m. PST

I thought it was Liche?

snurl104 Apr 2013 9:44 p.m. PST

Now that you mention it, is Lich;
Pronounced rhyming with bitch or rich;
or
Pronounced rhyming with screech or leash?

krieghund05 Apr 2013 2:37 a.m. PST

I thought it was Liche rhyming with rich.

ImhotepMagi05 Apr 2013 7:06 a.m. PST

I like how this went from innuendo to English class. We really are a bunch of nerds.

SonofThor05 Apr 2013 1:23 p.m. PST

Or you could go "gangsta" and say "Leeyaaaach"!

StarfuryXL505 Apr 2013 4:20 p.m. PST

So a powerful, undead wizard who is fond of a certain fragrant, sweet subtropical fruit would be a lychee lich?

snurl106 Apr 2013 3:22 p.m. PST

Yes. So what do you call a Lich with a screeching rich bitch on a leash?

dafrca08 Apr 2013 11:36 a.m. PST

@ ImhotepMagi,

Thanks for shareing. This was fun to see how it went.

I read your blog comments, and I agree, the 2D tiles offer more 'room' for figures, than 3D. I was on the fence about buying into the Dwarven Forge Kickstarter, but I can spend around $50 USD to get as much 2D terrain, as I could get with the DF KS, for the $260 USD level… The 2D is faster to deploy, easier to carry around, and store. I love the DF stuff, but 2D is just more practical for me (YMMV).

I would suggest using some sort of black surface, beneath your 2D tiles, such as black foamcore board, to improve the visuals of the dungeon. Even some black fabric stretched out across the tabletop, would look great. Thanks for sharing. You've given me some useful ideas. Cheers!

ImhotepMagi13 Apr 2013 10:03 a.m. PST

I have been thinking about adding some black cloth or something underneath. Foam core might be the answer, because cloth can shift more and disturb the setup. Good suggestion!

snurl113 Apr 2013 1:45 p.m. PST

A felt like cloth is the way to go. The classic DF pieces have felt bottoms and stay put on felt pretty well.
