Ran across this link today and really love the colour match search option. If you have a jpeg you can match all the colours off this site to all the major brands. I have been working on the generic craft brands for some time and have notes but not complete as of yet. Anyway here is the site enjoy: scalemodeldb.com/paint VR James Mattes |

That really is a cool site, thanks very much for posting! I am curious how the uploading feature works. I wonder if it will work for artwork as opposed to photos. |

Unfortunately, it does not show common gamer paints (Reaper, GW, Coat d'arms, Foundry, etc
).

Go to the Vallejo site they have a PDF for conversion of some of the major hobby brands. link to the PDF in on the left hand side under the first part about Model Colours. But you are correct it does not do the miniatures hobby paints. I know I have a bookmark for some but not sure which of the 8 computers I use has it on it. VR James Mattes |

Now, that is really spectacular! Thanks for the link! Here is a decent coverter for minaiatures paints, so if you can get the vallejo color, maybe you can find the corresponding color of the mini range you are looking for? link |

That truly is an enormously helpful site. Thanks for posting and thanks to the clever chaps for creating it. Sort of half restores faith in the internet after all the spam and viruses. |

That's pretty cool! I wonder how accurate it is? |

I've tried it with a couple of photos of my minis – but due to the fairly small range of Vallejo it knows about it is hard to know. But the standards colours it comes up with seem OK. There was a previous paint matching site that worked on RGB values (silicon dragons) that didn't seem to do a great job of matching very similar colours of paints. |

.I REALLY miss that site. Wish someone would get it back up on the web. |

I'm getting bugs with the Vallejo colours it selects. All of them are labelled 'white' even though the correct colour swatch is shown. I uploaded a pic of some WW2 re-enactors and chose spot colours and it came up with a whole pile of paints including German grey and Field Grey (not the VJ paints of these names). However, the image I chose showed colours that had a very slight greenish tint to them. Sill a great asset although colour will, I guess, always be open to artistic interpretation due to the effects of daylight. |

Yeah, they (the modeller) probably got confused when they said " paint that Thunderbolt up for us would you?" Nice paint job otherwise though
