Actually the whole diorama confuses me a bit, just doesn't hold together very well for me. |

The dioramist is French and there are several "odd" dioramas on his site. This one is much in the style of his others, particularly in the painting style which gives it more of a steampunk/fantasy feel. He also has a facebook page. |

So the modelling equivalent of French art movies? I had a look and his other dioramas look technically fantastic – unfortunately they are also fantastically weird
like post apocalyptic steampunk. The only one that (I think) I "got" was the Yamato Surfer chap

From my mother's sleep I fell into the State, And I hunched in its belly till my wet fur froze. Six miles from earth, loosed from its dream of life, I woke to black flak and the nightmare fighters. When I died they washed me out of the turret with a hose Randall Jarret, 1945 |

I built a B-24 years ago for a gentleman that was a ball turret gunner over Europe. The 2 things I remember was that he said he would place flak jackets all around him in the turret. He said they probably wouldn't help but they made him feel better. Second, he said the sound of the ME-262 was terrifying. |

When I was at school in the 70's one of my teachers was a Lancaster pilot who had got a job with BEA after the war – he had to quit when he couldn't do night landings in Germany. Even with a stewardess sitting in the jumpseat behind him chatting to him while on approach he couldn't do it – his younger co-pilot had to take the controls. Mr Wilkins was a great teacher. |
