Hello,

I've recently been looking at rekindling one of my first loves minis-wise…1/72 scale figures. I think I got my first sets of Atlantic Romans, Trojans, and Egyptians when I was about 5 years old.

I'm near 40 now and have been gaming for 20+ years in other sizes/scales (when I have the time) and would love to start gaming in 1/72.

There are TONS of figures released in this scale, but I am seeing some holes in what is produced.

I'd love to see the following in 1/72…

1. Zombies
2. Zombies
3. Zombies (Hey, Caesar does multiple sets of panzer grendiers and Orion did three sets of Orcs…there is precedent for multiple sets)
4. Super Heroes/Villians
5. Post-Apocalypic Drivers (like Mad Max)
6. Post-Apocalypic Infantry (to go with the drivers)
7. Weird War WWII (a set with lots of Nazi zombies, a couple SS vampire officers, and werewolves would be great!)
8. Victorian Sci-F Pulp Gaming Heros/Villans
9. Regular ol' modern Civilians (thank you Caesar for already having these in the production line-up)
10. Hobbits

What kinds of sets that are not normally offered would you like to see…

geekygamer31 Mar 2013 7:31 a.m. PST

….and….
11. Cavemen
12. NBC-geared modern US soldiers
14. Zombie plague civilian survivors
15. Post-Apoc mutants
16. Powered Armor
17. Dr.s and Scientists

nazrat31 Mar 2013 7:38 a.m. PST

In 1/72? Absolutely nothing beyond the WW II and Modern stuff I already have and is in production. But I hope you get all your wishes!

geekygamer31 Mar 2013 7:43 a.m. PST

Yes 1/72…why should really high sculpt quality, easy to convert, CHEAP plastic figures be only for folks who game in WWII, ancients, ACW, and Mid East/Central Asian insurgency genres!

cloudcaptain31 Mar 2013 7:45 a.m. PST

Scifi that I don't have to basically beg to get *cough RH Models cough*.

TheBeast Supporting Member of TMP31 Mar 2013 8:22 a.m. PST

3. Zombies (Hey, Caesar does multiple sets of panzer grendiers and Orion did three sets of Orcs…there is precedent for multiple sets)

There is no such thing as running zeds, but I suppose there could be a line for people who like to pretend such things exist.

Doug

PS ;->= Scale creep has been a terrible thing, until you start mixing-and-matching for out-sized thingies. Stunted, scrawny of all mentioned would be of interest to 'heroic' players, as well.

I'm totally sympathetic to the idea of more cheap plastic 1/72 minis for non-historic gaming. I've even got a blog on the subject: cheapfantasyminis.blogspot.com

Some of what you're looking for already exists in various form, e.g. these Victorian civilians: link

I assume you're interested in plastic, but here's a line of resin cavemen in 1/72: link

And Elheim's 1/72 metal pulp and horror lines includes zombies, zombie survivors, and "Weird War II": elhiemfigures.com/29.html

Fat Medieval Unarmoured Warriors. I need some 28mm Hobbits.

Also the zeds. The zed heads on the above could make nice 228mm goblins … or 10mm giants. Need them, too.

Texas Jack31 Mar 2013 10:26 a.m. PST

I would like to see a more extensive use of HaTīs figures in marching, advancing, and command sets. Great idea that makes putting together good looking units much easier. Oh, and some decent ACW.

Really sparked my interest, but broken link on Haron, formerly Orion.

Well, selfishly, I need some generic or vaguely modern werewolves. No weapons, no armor, nothing more than a torn pair of trousers.
Okay, if they wore Soviet submariner's outfits circa 1986, that would be fine. You know, not being specific or anything. grin

Daleks!!

Pijlie01 Apr 2013 7:55 a.m. PST

Zombies
SF armoured troops to fight my Dark Dream ones
SF power armour
SF Alien drones
SF Alien troopers with guns (like the Space Above & Beyond ones)
AWI Highlanders in kilt (but Redbox nearly has them…)
AWI Hessians (HaT nearly has them…)
AWI Rogers Rangers without all those Hollywood mistakes
Deep Ones
John Carter Red Martians
John Carter Green Martians

Who asked this joker01 Apr 2013 9:19 a.m. PST

More sci fi armored troops and aliens of any sort.
Maybe some NOT Star Wars or NOT Star Trek figures.
Some more proper* Dark Age figures
Fantasy Rangers
Fantasy Wraiths

By proper I mean some generic dark age warriors from c500AD.

billthecat01 Apr 2013 10:12 a.m. PST

Whatever it is, a complete range… not kits of 'this and that'…. stick to a theme for the first dozen kits or so: all sci-fi, all WWW2, all post-apoc, all fantasy, etc… Especially since there is very little else in 1/72 out there right now. Compatible with historicals might be good (or might restrict you terribly)… for this to be any kind of success you would need a 'massive' marketing effort to compete with the entrenched 15mm and 28mm markets which most folks are already heavily invested in.

123Mac01 Apr 2013 11:04 a.m. PST

@TheBeast: Here's a non-dead link: link

They also have a second set in the same line with fewer figures and more vehicles that seems to be more readily available.

chironex01 Apr 2013 4:50 p.m. PST

I would like to see some modular adam and eve-style figures, like Preiser do in some other scales. I wish to make some scenes of derelict aircraft sunk on reefs and cannot find any figures of skindiving couples to dive on them, or adventurous holidaymakers encountering them in the jungle. Then there are some pleasure or otherwise boats coming out in odd scales where there are no suitable figures.

Expansions of the existing fantasy sets are greatly desirable.

John Thomas801 Apr 2013 5:33 p.m. PST

Different type cannons for 1/72 ACW that fit my existing units.

chironex03 Apr 2013 3:27 a.m. PST

Australian Modern troops.

More ultramodern vehicles.

Umpapa03 Apr 2013 10:27 a.m. PST

Not-Predator (bonus if transparent resin also available, Khurasan is too small, GZG is too big).
Not-James Bond.
Not-Indiana Jones (Elhiem is so so)
Opponents of Indy Jones: fat Fez man, evil archeologist-occultist, bad arms dealer, mad scientist, femme fatal with Luger
Girlfriend of Indy Jones, in decent adventure outfit (for my daughter)
Not-Lara Croft
Not-Conan (plus princess)
Those figures can be easily mixed with any historical ranges allowing to pulp-ize already owned historical collection.

Imagine Predator vs Napoleon or Conan Romanslayer…

Apache 615 May 2013 1:29 p.m. PST

- Modern western civilians: Mix of suits, and more casual wear, maybe a homeless or backpacking figure.

- Modern Arab/Middle East/North African civilians

Splod8915 May 2013 8:41 p.m. PST

As much as I want to say more ultra-modern armour, sci-fi is what I really want to see. Kits with the quality of Revell or Dragon reproducing some of the awesome sci-fi designs from movies and shows over the last 20-30 years.

deflatermouse16 May 2013 3:45 a.m. PST

1984-1986 Soviet Motor rifle troops. Also in NBC and winterwear (greatcoats.)
And a second as to Texas Jack.
Also WWI Empire troops in Palestine and Mespot. Marching etc.

Marc the plastics fan17 May 2013 2:07 a.m. PST

French Napoleonic infantry, in full dress, for the Empire period, say 1808-1812.

To match the excellent Zvezda and HaT legere sets.

Mooseworks817 May 2013 4:50 a.m. PST

Fantasy dragons and a steam tank.

gregmita217 May 2013 11:34 a.m. PST

Not complete models, but some conversion bits – turret weapons (energy weapons, railguns, etc.) to fit on existing ultramodern vehicles. Maybe sensors and add-on armour too.

mister droid11 Jul 2013 11:34 a.m. PST

I would mostly like to see scale creep go back down the ladder. 25mm has grown to 28, heroic 28, 32, 35 and now sometimes 40mm! I just got a batch of classic old minis.. And it blew my mind that 1970s Ral Partha is a dead match in terms of size and detail as my plastic 1/72 guys. The detail is actually a good bit nicer than some of the figures coming out of Russia. Did they get big just to make sculpting easier?

BlackWidowPilot Fezian11 Jul 2013 10:35 p.m. PST

Powered armor, and by that I mean Old School as in slightly retro in style with jump jets, a twin barrel mortar system mounted on the jump pack, and an assortment of handheld weapon options. evil grin

PistolPete12 Jul 2013 7:41 a.m. PST

more pulp, adventure hero figures would be nice. and 60's/70's tv show figures.

aapch4512 Jul 2013 8:18 a.m. PST

I would love to see, and everyone is gonna kill me, an Arnold and company from predator, with a predator model (cool diorama possibilities)

Ark3nubis12 Jul 2013 8:38 a.m. PST

what aapch45 said! Other than th guys being true to the film, the Predator would have to be too. By that I mean about 25%+ bigger than Arnie, and not emulating the very chunky Preds as seen in AVP (the one in the pyramid)

Pijlie and Splod89 are also on the money too.

aapch4512 Jul 2013 10:06 a.m. PST

Also like to see some 50s style robots, and some post apocalyptic road warrior types.

Personal logo 20thmaine Supporting Member of TMP15 Jul 2013 4:02 a.m. PST

@Pijlie – that's my list too.

Would love a pulp SF set – Flash gordon etc.

And a few more fantasy sets.

PistolPete15 Jul 2013 11:05 a.m. PST

aapch45 – Stan Johansen has some post apoc stuff.

number417 Jul 2013 10:07 p.m. PST

Korean War British infantry (No, WWII figures are not the same)

7 Years War Austrian grenzers

Decent ACW artillery and infantry (not toy soldier poses)
