Anyone know if any manufacturer intends to produce plastic artillery or dismounted cavalry. I can't understand why Perry made Infantry then cavalry then Zouaves then more Infantry. |

for 25/28mm? I second the notion. I think the artillery box set should be 3 plastic gun carriages with an assortment of different barrels, the crew and officers for each of the guns and some accessories like shovels, picks, buckets, chests, gabions, floorbords, etc. That would be really good. Not sure of the economics of artillery in plastic but I a sure ACW artillery that could be used for either side would sell like hotcakes! |

I'd like a little variety. The guns that come in Italeri and Imex packs look uncomfortably similar. No difference between them to have 3" rifles and howitzers and 12# Nappies on the table without labeling the silly things. |

I agree and was wondering the same myself! Plastic artillery half firing and half loading (like perry's fist civil war set, half marching and half skirmishing). Also agree on the different cannon barrels! Dismounted cavalry would be welcome too! Nobody has done this yet in plastic (aside from the few mixed in with Imex cavalry sets) |

At Salute the Perry's had 3 Up's of some ACW plastic artillery that are due for release in their next run after the DAK's are done (which are apparently imminent). Don't have any details but I'll be buying a box or three for certain. |

Really? First I have heard
if this is true I am very excited!

@John Thomas – Imex are woefully under scale; gun tubes look like 15mm pieces. Simple guide to recognition: Rifled guns are Iron – paint them gloss black. 3"Ordnance are long, plain tubes while 10pdr Parrots are slightly shorter and have a distinctive (wrought iron) reinforcing band at the breech. Smoothbore Napoleons are brass – paint them gold.
nps-vip.net/history/artillery Howitzer tubes are a little shorter and more cylindrical than the gracefully flared Napoleons. They come in two flavors: the 12 pdr and 24pdr; the latter can be easily recognized by the two large lifting brackets cast into the tube link link |

ddon1234 I think the first Perry Plastics were the infantry then cavalry. The zouaves came next because they hadn`t been covered in their metal range, at least in right shoulder shift & charging poses. The next box copied the RSS/charging poses for Confederate infantry. My understanding is the next ACW is Federal troops in RSS/charging poses. I don`t know if they will simply duplicate the models they already have for sale,my choice would be for engineers & sappers. Their metal range is more detailed than their plastics. They are open to an friendly e-mail to suggest further products. |

That's great news! I would buy a few boxes. The poses (firing/loading) would be nice. But how would they represent Union/Confederate gunners, etc.? |

From the Perry plastic workbench:

In any case, don't expect to hear Perrys announcing any further sets before the next Salute. |

This is terrific news! I've already purchased a number of their metal guns, but would go for a big pile of plastic boxed sets in a heartbeat. |

I am wondering whether artillery horses and riders come with the box set. It's important to have the horses and riders because without them what is the point to providing limbers? No word of them on their website. |
| sma1941 | 29 Apr 2013 9:31 a.m. PST |
I can't see them including horse teams and riders. If they did then each box set woud be one gun, limber, horse team and crew. Nope. The cost savings is a box of three guns and limbers and crew. I have plenty of extra horses |

sma1941, I hope and pray you are wrong. I want those horses with proper harnesses and riders. It would be a sad waste to _not_ have them. The alternative would be to have a pack of metal horses and riders for sale just to fit this. Granted, they already sell a full metal limber and horses but to complete this plastic set you'd have to buy extra stuff in metal you don't need if we have to go that route. I would NOT mind spending any extra money getting the horses at all. It's worth it in my book! Don actionfront.blogspot.com "Who ever saw a dead cavalryman?" |
| HammerHead | 11 May 2013 1:54 p.m. PST |
worth the money, yeah why not, no reason to not include everything for a price in 1 box |
| bgbboogie | 12 May 2013 4:29 a.m. PST |
Hooray
!!!! I want 30 limbers. |
| HammerHead | 12 May 2013 7:36 a.m. PST |
Ha ha go make them Martin, long time since I read anything from you. Did you buy those WW1 troops |
| badger22 | 12 May 2013 9:28 a.m. PST |
So half the question more or less answered. Just hope they get around to the dismounted cavalry someday. Someday soon, I have a need for a few boxes of them. Owen |

As do I. I'm currently paintining up Rebs for the first day of Gettysburg. I'd prefer the Perry's to do plastic to my having to buy metal. |
