When a new board comes up can you just turn it up so it doesn't appear on your home page?

I thought that was how it worked.

Ron W DuBray30 Mar 2013 2:21 p.m. PST

yes you can turn it off

So why do people complain about new boards that they do not have any interest in?

It can affect boards that they do have interest in too, though – if you have a dedicated board for "x" rules, the general discussion for the period they cover is likely to fall off, as topics that aren't in any way rules specific get posted to the rules-specific board anyway….

But chaos yields creativity, so more boards is always good!

Yeah – I want WW2 boards. But for a while there were boards for 15mm, 20mm, and 28mm. So now I have to check 3 or 4 boards.

The Front Page is my main way to see and interact with threads, so if turned boards off, I wouldn't see things which might be of interest.

I am not interested in trawling though dozens of near identical boards looking for one decent thread, I am however interested in that one decent thread.

The board they are in is often largely irrelevant to the interestingness or otherwise of a particular post.
