It should be interesting, especially with John Hurt involved. I wonder how many other Doctors will appear?

If its anything like this series so far, it will be a big disappointment imo

I quite enjoyed tonight's….

Still not convinced by Moffat's scripts.

I believe Matt Smith is a great actor and he's carrying the scripts. Without Matt the present run of Dr Who would be in trouble.

The series so far? It only started tonight Marvin.

Tonight's was so-so I thought – not up to the standard of some of the recent episodes (I like Moffat). Also reminiscent of recent episodes – Mind Control, iconic tall building …

I really like Moffat, but I do think he was better when he was "just" a writer – if you look at the RTD era, the best episode or two-parter in each series was pretty much always Moffat's one, but I don't think his writing's been as inspired since he got the extra hat to wear.

I thought it was very average.

Jaz this was episode 7/8 of series 7, it started last year and had a mid season break.

Personally liked it, though borrowed from previous episodes and a pure Star Trek steal.

I totally agree with Dom…

Last nights episode was trying to be too clever imho but I did quite enjoy it.
I like the new assistant.
I am still not keen on Matt Smith, but then again I may just have been spoiled by having a great actor (and Dr Who fan)..David Tennant in the role.

Matt Smith is fine – different but fine. I have liked them all except Sylvester McCoy and Colin Baker to an extent. I never saw the film McGann

I liked Sylvestor and Colin, the writing for their seasons was pretty terrible though (Sylvester's being the worst). Same goes for McGann, he was fine in the roll but the show itself was forgettable. My friend came up with the perfect reason for the problem, the Master was too american.

Everything since Tom Baker has been an accelerated land slide into a pile of dead horses. Every story or 'concept' has a beginning and an end, and Dr. Who, despite its success on many levels, ran out of gas sometime in the late 1970s… combine that with a style and presentation that is so far removed from the original series to be almost unrecognizable and you have a perfect recipe for a big steaming pile of television. Just IMHO, of course.

I really hope you're trolling 'cos if you genuinely feel that way, well I feel sorry for you man – the rejuvenated Doctor Who's supplied some really great telly for me…. :-)

(Make no mistake, lots of it's been fairly uninspired too, but there have been some *really* good stories since it came back, especially the more original ones rather than the "let's bring back a classic baddy" types; episodes like The Empty Child, The Girl In The Fireplace, and Blink have really made the endeavour worthwhile, although I do think the spark's faded in the last series or two….)

I think Moffat is a great writer, in the Bob Holmes and Malcolm Hulke class, and Smith is a wonderful Doctor. I did like Tennant in the role a lot, but I didn't like Russell T. Davies' writing. Put it this way, Moffat has yet to produce anything like Boom Town or Love and Monsters. This 2nd half of the series started nicely enough.

Great quote on the Guardian (UK newspaper) website:

'Also slightly disheartened to see that other old trait of self-destructive Who-dom raise its head again -- the 'I didn't like this episode therefore the show should be cancelled again'. You don't see that with any other show on TV. What kind of fan wishes for the destruction of their ostensibly favourite programme?'

I could give an answer that probably combines the US word for posterior, with the people who wear big shoes and drive cards that fall apart.
Personally didn't like the last episode (Rings of Akhaten)much at all, but could look at Clara for many episodes – probably some of the moaners are the kind of chaps who have prefer Cap'n Jack!

Another great quote probably sums up matters well too

'I just don't understand why Who is the only programme when someone sees an episode they don't rate, they immediately call for the whole show to be pulled from the air. Just not watching it anymore doesn't seem to be an option. No one else is allowed to enjoy it either.
I'm not crazy about Emmerdale but I recognise that others are. I certainly wouldn't suddenly start screaming that it be pulled from the schedules.'

In the good old days one would come home from football practice, eat gravel for tea, sit on a chair made of barbed wire and watch some decent Doctor Who.:-)
