I had a chance to play the Saga Homeland Scenario and luckily I was defending. things seem a bit rough for the attacker!

This was a 6 vs 5 point game, Vikings attacking Anglo Danes. I kept my warriors and Hearth-guard in the buildings wit the levy bowmen outside to try and thin the Vikings. Overall, it didn't seem the attacker as enough numerical superiority to get through the advantage of being in the building.

In fact, it seemed like the pre-game bidding is like a game of chicken. Do I bid low (say 4 points) hoping I get the defense…God help me if the opponent bids 3. Or do I say to Odin with it and just bid 6 and make an attack focused army?

Attackers always have a bit of a rough time in this scenario, and the fact you were playing Anglo-Danes must have made it even tougher for your opponent!

I've seen this scenario played at a number of tournaments but have never seen a bid of 3 points, I think that's possibly too low for even defensive factions like the Anglo-Danes or Scots to stomach!

I would never bid 6, I think it's too risky given if your opponent also chooses the same tactic, one of you will have to attack against an evenly matched warband, which is probably the worst situation you could be in for this scenario!
