For those of you who, like myself, have been eagerly awaiting the release of Blue Moon 18mm Garibaldi Guard and Louisiana Tigers, they are now available. I have been checking the Old Glory website occasionally, and just noticed they have appeared. Links: link link |

They were actually announced here last week. I'm a bit disappointed with them both. It looks like they simply changed the head or hat on the figures with frock coats for the Garibaldi Guard. I don't see any leggings either. The Tigers had already been released basically as Zouaves with Fez. |

I missed the announcement, FireZouave. For better or worse, it is a common practice for sculptors in the miniature figure business to use preexisting models and simply add/subtract one part or another. I'm not happy about it either, but maybe that's the only way they can make a profit. Given the huge effort that Old Glory has made to offer a wide array of figures in their 18mm ACW range, I'll refrain from criticizing. With regard to the Louisiana Tigers, I will favor a mix of figures with both fez and the straw 'boaters' in the units I plan to create. I understand the 39th NY did not retain their distinctive uniform through the war. I could see mixing in a few figures with forage caps or slouch hats to give this unit some more variation. -Don |

Agreed, Old Glory is doing a great job on them. And now they just added dead horses, which I just love! I like them for the look and to use as markers. |
