Interesting. I hadn't realised before that the scythe blade has to be remounted at a 90 degree angle to turn the farm implement into a weapon. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_scythe |

Handled an original at the Royal Armrouries last year. The blade was wafer-thin and wavy edged from regular sharpening. I would have hated to face it but, equally, wouldn't have been to happy to have had to wield it either! |
