I couldn't help myself.

I've been bringing my Union army up to strength for Regimental Fire & Fury: my commitment being about 60 bases, which meant adding to existing forces.

And before I knew it, i'd acquired enough new figures for a third Zouave regiment (5th NY, 72nd Penn & now the 155th Penn ) to my army of 7 infantry regiments.

Too many Zouaves? My only defence is I've not a single Confederate Zouave.

Well seeing as Weeds Brigade had 4 units of Zouaves that meant Ayres division had 14 regiments with 4 being Zouaves….so go for it just make sure you add more everyday units next!

There are never enough Zouaves, unless you're trying to be Historially Correct! :)

Painting miniatures should be fun also so if zoauves is your thing then go for it.

I bet there are others who'd rather stick to painting regular yankees.

I've not a single Confederate Zouave

Everyone needs to paint the Louisiana Tigers just to get it out of their system.

As for the Union zouaves. Enjoy yourself. As Oscar Wilde said: "Anything worth doing is worth doing to excess."

Confederates soon abandoned zouave styles, so you shouldn't really have any.

Although by inclination I support the Union, I must admit painting Rebs is far more enjoyable for me.
My aim is to have no 2 Confederate figures looking exactly the same.

Thus, my addiction to Zouaves….painting Union infantrymen gets a little boring.

Too many? Are you sure that's English. I don't seem to understand the question.

;)

You can never have enough Zouaves. I have over 5000 painted 15mm ACW figs and it's still not enough… or so I keep telling myself. There are dozens of variations of Zouave uniforms so in my plan anyway I continue collecting them so I can have examples of what the different regiments actually looked like. They all didn't wear baggy red pants with a white turban. In a perfect world I'd have enough painted Zouaves to represent any of the various Zouave units during the war.

But that's just me. :)
