There's a new superhero movie coming in August:

It has me wanting to do some skirmish gaming, but where can I find good costumed heroes and villains? I am thinking about 28 mm (due to the availability of armed civilians, police, etc. in that scale). I hope that someone can help me, as I find that costumes add "tone" to what would otherwise be a mere vulgar brawl.

Thank you,

Ron

I use mostly Heroclix figures cut off thier click bases and put onto other bases.

Other options would include:
Four Color figures sold by Old Glory.
Reaper's Chronoscope line
Crossover miniatures

There are some other ranges also, but that is what comes to mind.

The reaper chronoscope line has several modern types and heroes.
Heroclix offers on ebay deliver a lot for the buck too. Those are the two I'm most experinced with.
I'm doing Sgt Rock, the Unknown Soldier , and the Haunted Tank with Captain America and the Red Skull…and a clockwork nazi assassin! The heroclix do not scale well with Bolt Action, so the project is stalled till I find something better.

The links to all of those can be found in the Manufacturer Directory here, but Pulp City is absent, and also worth a look:

Between those four and perhaps some 'clix figs, you ought to be spoiled for choices.

I recommend Chronsocope and Four Color from experience. Another viable option is to get Heroclix figs, and either use them as is, or repaint them.

Finally pulp city and crossover look good, but I haven't seen them in person to say.

What rules do you have in mind?

Thanks, everyone! That should get me started.

Re: Optional Field – I am considering Mongoose's "Gangs of Mega – City One", as I already have the rulebook, but no figures. Also in the running is the "Carbon City" RPG available for download at this link:

One of my friends has another set of rules (the name of which escapes me), but it is geared towards "real" superheroes with powers. What I had in mind was more of a Pulp feel, with costumed idiots beating the starch out of one another in a morally ambiguous battle for supremacy in a decaying urban wasteland. Good times for all!

If you want to use figures from the movie, Wizkids is releasing a Kick A$$ 2 Heroclix set.

I would think Knight Models' Batman Miniatures Games works for that as well. The rules and the skill/power list are free to download from their site (as well as stat sheets for Batverse characters to use as a basis) and there are rather few really "outre" abilities involved. Of course you could also use at least some of the minis but they are fairly expensive and rather large, more @ 32+mm than @ 28mm.

If you want to run a really decaying ubran wasteland type of thing you could also look at postapocalyptic miniature lines for character minis. Dark Age and Eden come to mind as possible sources for various kinds of brawlers. They are unfortunately also on the big side of 28mm but should combine decently with BMG and some larger 'clix.

Hasslefree has a version of the main character from that film.

What we need is a Hit Girl figure.

Try sgmm.biz They have a butt kicked set that looks pretty decent. It's in the 28mm pulp section.

I've got both. The Crossover figure are very nice, and the swapable heads makes customizing the figures easy.

The Pulp City stuff is very well sculpted, athough IMO some of their figures can be a bit fiddly to assemble (most are multi-part castings). Also, many of them are very "non-generic" making them a bit less useful outside their official setting.
