I was looking through my plastic parts box for bits for a totally unrelated project and I came across some old Russian kits of 54mm licorne guns. Now the guns are of no use (well not at the moment anyway!) but the wheels may help out on my 28mm gun sling project. They are however just a bit small. But it reminded me of an old Historex kit I have of a Gribeauval caisson. It has three large wheels and two small.
If you recall the gun sling, there appear to have been several variations:
I am several dollars short and a considerable bit of time will be required before I am able to consider moulding some scratch built wheels, so I will probably cheat and use the Historex wheels for a gun sling.
I will need to make a fourth wheel, and add the reinforcing spokes to two of the wheels. (no problem!)
It will of course lift the HBG. (Honkin' big gun!). I have added the cascable, some trunnions and a muzzle piece.
As someone here pointed out the HBG was just a little too H. So I've started a slightly less-so HBG.
Lots of work yet to do!
Regards, Rob.
