What are peoples opinion on these rules?

I have them, have not played,. It reminded me of something i would have LOVED in the 80s.

I read them as they were the first set I was pointed out, they seem complicated, my personal choice is bag the hub (too fat lardies), but other people I know would recommend check your six also. All personal preference of what level of details u want in a game.

Our club tested both Sturmovik Commander and Scramble an even if they are closely matched we thought that Scramble was actually somewhat better being just slightly more detailed.

Before we played them on the same club evening after one another I was actually thinking that SC would be the better one. And it certainly is better when you ratio in the cost (as SC in free).

I own both Scramble and Bag the Hun. Scramble is more technic, and Bag the Hun relies more on the pilot. I played Scramble only once, and I had problems with the turn sequence. But I like its fire system and altitude representation.

I like Scramble, a lot.

It's a comperhensive rule set – not modular – so you get everything in one package – air to air, air to ground, ground to air, night fighting, anti-shipping, X-planes/ weapons.

Aircraft data is similarly comprehensive, everything from interwar to post war/ Korea iirc, and they have made their stats algorithms available too so if they have missed out your favourite type then you can calculate your game stats with confidence…

My favourite dogfight action fought with these rules? Sunderland vs FW-200 over the Bay of Biscay – very graceful, elegant (and large) turning fight, dropping down to sea level before concluding…
