Hi,
Just reading FoF and looking at WWII skirmish in particular – Bolt Action does not 'Float my Boat'.
So far have read the rules once and played one modern game
Has anyone playerd it for WWII and how did you find it?
Good points / bad points?
Cheers
TT

I have done a considerable amount of work and playtesting of a WW2 version of Force on Force. Initially I used the Ambush Alley version of the rules which included the WW2 amendments. These were fine but the vehicle vs vehicle rules were rubbish so I had to graft in this section from the Osprey/Modern version. That meant creating a whole set of vehicle stats for the guns and tanks and checking if these were correct vehicle for vehicle. The work for this is well under way and is looking really good. Unfortunately this means that the values are my own interpretation but if there is any interest I am happy to make these available on-line in the near future.

Thanks George that would be most helpful. I understand FoF is bringing out a specific WWII supplement soon also?

Good to see Shawn I am enoying the modern rules in the mean time too but will try the WWII varients in the first edition also while collecting some modern troops – hard part is which theatre / period sooo many to choose from

Shawn

Any ball park idea of a release date for the WW2 supplement? There would be no point in me putting in an enormous effort when your project will hit the shelves soon.

We're only just now getting started on it in earnest. I doubt you'll see it before the end of the year. There are a lot of new concepts that need some thorough testing. It's really not just FoF with some Shermans and Tigers taped on. I think you guys are going to get a charge out of it!

All the best,

Shawn.

I am thinking of using my FOW bases instead of individual figures and then take the whole base off for casualty. it will have a ot more figures ont he table but should look OK.
In the meantime still trying to decide which skirmish period to do.
Nick B is doing Africa and Vietnam 15mm and my other playing partner is doing Afgan and Iraq in 28mm – guess I will have to do both!
Hmmm maybe Korea – Aussies Vs Chine . koreans in 15mm?
Then there is Arab/Israeli 1956 or 67

Excellent news Shawn, I am looking forward to that. In the mean time I will finish off my version and wait with baited breath.

Yeah Shawn, it needs to reflect period tactics, find-fix-flank, and not just shooting everyone dead in their cover, as well as a more robust CinC system.

Get those right for FoF WW2 and you'll do well
