More of a preview than a review, but proving once again that you can never have too many Tigers Tamiya is releasing a Tiger I Late version in my favorite scale:

Great model.

No Zimmerit.

When I was still modelling in 1/48, Skybow (later AFV Club) released the Tiger mid and IIRC late in this scale with Zimmerit already molded on. For my money, that's the way to go.

Damon.

No Zimmerit.

Yeah, I noticed it too. It may have track sections as opposed to the rubber bands of the Skybow kit, but you gotta have zimm on a late war Tiger. I bought five of the Skybow Tigers from this vendor on Ebay selling them for $6 USD apiece: auction

Plus the three I bought when the kit first came out, I think I've had enough.

There is no zimmerit because you are supposed to use the PE set sold seperately. link

cheers

Zimmerit application was discontinued from Sept-Oct '44 – so depends how late late-war you (or Tamiya) mean

Etranger25 Mar 2013 6:24 p.m. PST

The last Tiger I came off the production lines in August 1944 though…..

A company called Cavilier did 'add on' thin sheets of zimmerit for the 1/35 Tamiya Tiger (& others)
