Ok its being years since I last gamed! So I set up a game (solo may I add) brief overview, WW2 occupied Europe. A 10 man squad of Brits had to escape from behind enemy lines. The board was roughly 4'x3' (dining room table) the game was set to be played out under the cover of darkness. The Germans out numbered the Brits 3to1, although only random patrols would be on the board at one time, but if the alarm was raised reinforcements could be called in. The board was laid out, a small farm was set surrounded by fields, hedges, and two small wooded areas. The rules were some old Airfix rules adapted slightly. Well the brits got nine of thier ten men home, no German causality's and no shots fired! So the brits lost a man to a very angry farmer with his shotgun! So I enjoyed playing! More games on the horizon, yes without a doubt! So thanks Robby your encouragement paid off. Cheers for now Russ

Sounds like a fun and unusual game.

You're quite welcome. I hoped you'd find it fun to start gaming again. Your painting and terrain work deserve to be used in games. I hope you'll find yourself enjoying many more 'little adventures'.
Regards,
Robby

Cheers guys, unusual maybe but it was fun! The chance element played a large part in the game! The farmers role could of gone one of three ways! Helped the British, help the Germans, or end up hating the war and both sides! So the chance of a full on fire fight didn't happen and the Brits didn't even retaliate against the farmer! So thanks again Robby, once I get a proper table (scenic wise) set up I might take afew photos, and maybe post a few!
Cheers Russ

True farmer story: a friend of mine's father commanded a platoon of green mechanized cavalry near the 106th Division at the Battle of the Bulge. After a tough day or two (I forget this detail, can't ask him any more) of fighting, the survivors split up and took off. The Lt. and some of his men hid in a barn. The farmer went and told the Germans. SS showed up and got ready to shoot them all. A Wermacht colonel came along and canceled the execution.

Otherwise I wouldn't have had my high school buddy.

Another dear friend of mine's father was in the 106th and captured at the Bulge. The 106 was a local outfit.
