Hi there,

I've painted up some Irregular Star Marines in a winter scheme and made some custom terrain for them as well.

They're meant to be used in FIRETEAM ANDROMEDA

I hope you will go visit my blog and have a look.

picture

I'm also in the process of making a downed spaceship:

Here's a link to the blog.

All the best!

bluebirds4024 Mar 2013 10:32 a.m. PST

you've done a great job.

Ralphio24 Mar 2013 10:49 a.m. PST

These look great!!!

Dunadan24 Mar 2013 11:12 a.m. PST

Wow, those things look awesome! Also, +1 internets for adding more pictures of these chaps to TMP (they're very camera shy). Have you considered sending the pics to Irregular for them to add to their site? The current picture they have of the range is rather lackluster

Nicely done

Credible Hulk24 Mar 2013 12:08 p.m. PST

Thanks people of TMP!

I've written Irregular now and asked if they want to use my images.

This is my (almost) first foray into 15mm science fiction and I must say that I find it very invigorating.

It seems so much easier to convert stuff and build things from garbage in this scale.

Peace!

Post more pics of your wrecked starship please!! A kids water pistol?

Redroom24 Mar 2013 12:26 p.m. PST

very nice, the starship wreck is really cool

Charles Marlow24 Mar 2013 12:31 p.m. PST

Bored of the Rings? Great minis and crashed starship; I see a turret off a Joust MW tank.

PzGeneral24 Mar 2013 2:10 p.m. PST

Those guys are pretty kewl….look almost like Imperial Stormtroopers
thumbs up

I have bought a fair bit from Irregular over the years, but I've always thought that their SF ranges were the last refuge of the financially challenged. You, sir, have proven me to be a fool !

An army any man would be proud to field – excellent.

Micropanzer24 Mar 2013 6:19 p.m. PST

the paint job is sweet hard to see the detail of the sculpts but based off your images I would buy them for sure --

Credible Hulk25 Mar 2013 1:53 a.m. PST

@Gaz

I will once I get it painted

@Charles Marlow

Yup! An old piece of mech warrior plastic

@pzGenereal

Yeah, the Hoth setting is my main inspiration. I think these guys will be good guys though.. and they'll be fighting yetis and ice giants.

@20thMarine
Yeah maybe, but even a Bleeped text can look nice if you paint it properly. These are not good sculpts. But I do think they have some character.

@Jason Moore
There isn't a lot of detail left out… haha!

Peace!

I think a lot of low detail figures get overlooked which can actually paint up pretty nice – sometimes less detail just gives the painter more scope.

AdmiralCrackbar25 Mar 2013 5:45 a.m. PST

I wasn't even aware these things existed.

clkeagle25 Mar 2013 6:20 a.m. PST

Nicely done, DB.

Photos of the Irregular line are extremely rare, so these might be really helpful to some people. They're a bit on the larger side, right?

-Chris K.

Credible Hulk25 Mar 2013 7:04 a.m. PST

@AdmiralCrackbar

Neither was I! Haha. A mate just gave them to me… had to look up 'Star Marines' to find out who produced them.

@clkeagle:

They are definitely on the larger side. No doubt. THey tower over my Ground Zero Games troopers.

Looks good !

Eclectic Wave25 Mar 2013 10:05 a.m. PST

Good paint job on the gun turrets.

ROUWetPatchBehindTheSofa25 Mar 2013 1:58 p.m. PST

Really nice. Acquired and painted a few myself, but didn't particularly like the style or the size and so disposed of them. Definitely on the big side for 15's. Closer to 20mm IIRC. However, they are different from alot of stuff out there and if you like the style (and can cope with size) they are worth investing in. Also the range has plenty of different weapon types, officer, comms etc

Dragon Gunner25 Mar 2013 2:14 p.m. PST

Excellent work captures winter feel better than I can.

Credible Hulk26 Mar 2013 3:14 p.m. PST

Got a bit more work in on the crashed ship:

I hope you will go have a look at my blog too. link

Wow!

head spigot26 Mar 2013 10:17 p.m. PST

Greaty work, I can't wait to see what you come up with next!

BlackWidowPilot Fezian26 Mar 2013 11:27 p.m. PST

These are fantastic. You've done a superb job on the Irregular figures! Have you thought of bringing your work to the attention of Irregular miniatures? IMHO they really out to borrow your photos for their company site, as you've really done their figures some serious justice!evil grin

@SirFjodin
Thanks! And thanks for keeping a tremendously good blog.

@Head Spigot
Thanks! I think a nuclear facility of some sorts is next.

@BlackWidowPilot

Thanks a lot. I already wrote Irregular some time ago (around the start of this topic) but they haven't replied.

They're maybe busy with Salute on the horizon and all.

Peace!

Credible Hulk27 Mar 2013 2:32 p.m. PST

Someone asked what size the marines are, I think.

Here are some comparisons. I've listed the manufacturers beneath the images.

Hadn't seen this thread before.

Bored of the Rings?

Great. Now all I can think of are hoarsely-whispering elf maidens…

*ahem* Oh, yes, well done, well done.

John Treadaway08 Jul 2013 1:39 a.m. PST

Excellent work they do look like they took a lot of painting, though.

I figure that "aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?" implies they're all meant to be quite tall (or perhaps Mark Hamill is just quite short).

I figure they pick 'em all to be 1.8m plus: after all, Vader has an entire galaxy (far far away) to do his recruiting from.

Or aren't they all clones? (dislays his ignorance having not bothered to watch the prequels…). In which case Vader just gets a big one and just stamps 'em out!

Anyway, irrespective of those ramblings, nice brushwork sir.

Don't take any oaken thruppences…*

* yep – another 'Bored of the Rings' reference

Gunner Dunbar08 Jul 2013 2:34 a.m. PST

I hadn't seen this painted up before, you did a nice job, and the ship is great to.

Rebel Minis08 Jul 2013 8:00 a.m. PST

Nice work!
