I aam painting some regiments of GDW line and have one quick question. I saw a game a few months back and noticed that the GDW line figures were all painted in their winter blue trousers. The one thing that caught my eye was every figure had strips down the side of their trousers to match the lapel color. So either yellow, crimson, or white. I have searched high and low and have only seen one photo with such a stripe; that was in Osprey. Can anyone respond to this whether there were stripes on the infantry trousers? |

See Histofig link and link Also see the Chelminski plates at link and this useful site on Polish uniforms etc link From the various drawings it certainly looks as if the infantry wore them in the early period. This is confirmed on page 35 of Nafziger & Wesolowski "Poles & saxons of the Napoleonic Wars" says from 1807 the infantry wore dark blue pants with stripes of the divisional colour: 1st division – yellow 2nd Division – crimson 3rd division – white The decree of 3 September 1810 prescribed plain dark blue trousers. |

PofE, Thank you very much. I guess the AB figures are later Poles since there are no plumes for Elites and no cords on the headgear. I guess I will go with the trouser stripe, if nothing else distinguish them even more from French Legere. |
