I had to admit that I'm a totally ignorant about the Mormons pioneers history in the Old West. This is a interesting article about them. link Question: Did they had to fought against the Indians in some moment or they were enought lucky for not? Are there Mormon Pioneers miniatures in 25mm or 28mm to recomended? Thanks in advance for your guidance. Hope you enjoy the article. Amicalement Armand |

There were skirmishes- at one point Ogden, Utah was fortified against a possible indian attack, but their leader Brigham Young's motto was 'feed 'em, don't fight 'em, and that is usually what happened. Nothing as serious as say the Boers in S. Africa versus the Zulus. I would be astounded if there were any specifically 'Mormon' miniatures out there somewhere

So far as I know, Mormon pioneers looked pretty much like other American pioneers. The Mormon Trail didn't stray too much from the line of the Oregon Trail, which was patrolled by the Army, so the Indians usually stayed away. Besides, the pioneers scared off most of the game animals, so Indians had no reason to be in the area hunting. There's a statue of pioneers with a hand cart at Temple Square in Salt Lake City.
I looked at that, and couldn't figure how I'd have been able to move enough food in a hand cart for ME, let alone my family and our household goods. Mormons did become involved in a battle of sorts in 1862. A breakaway group set up shop south of Ogden and just NE of Hill AFB. After a while, some of the members had second thoughts, and were allowed to leave, but there were disagreements about the communal property they could take with them. They complained to the Federal authorities who called for formation of a posse. The Mormon Church authorities backed them up, since they weren't too keen on breakaway groups anyway, and off they went, led by the deputy US marshall, several hudred strong, to beseige and capture breakaway group's fort. link Grelber |

Looks like all the good stuff happens in Ogden. From what I hear they also have an excellent hiking trail system. |

Some hat less Mennonite figures might work for most of the menfolk. Pioneer women all pretty much looked alike dress wise. |
