I have stumbled through the search mechanism here, and keep timing out, so I just have to ask those of you who focus on the Napoleonic British.

"Back in the day" – '60s and 0'70's – a friend Mike Ferguson painted all my British 30mm Stadden infantry; while I did the last half and since of my French. Rousselot has been my inspiration, but now I am struggling with two units of Victrix centre company British.

We had found through research that all British infantry rank and file had pewter buttons, and that only the officers complied to the button colour prescribed for the regiment.

Is that true? I am ready to dul-coat the 9th Foot (24 figures including two officer colour bearers, two sergeants and two drummers) and 88th Foot (same), both allegedly white metal regiments. I have not done the officers yet, and wonder if the single fringed epaulette should be white metal/silver, or gold. I am doing the crossbelt plate brass, shako plates black, bayonet scabbard tips brass, etc – same for all infantry.

Help!

The officer's buttons and epaulets would be silver of gold and maybe the NCOs as well. The privates would all have tin buttons.

Many thanks, Doc Ord! I will to the 4 officers with silver epaulettes, and coat buttons, and then dul-coat them.

Second that according to Franklin.
I am also in the process of doing the same thing for my just completed 44th Foot.

sigh. :)

Agree with the above. Plain grey looking buttons I'd paint them as.
