Following the popularity of the 15mm Renaissance directory, I've now created a new page listing all of the 28mm manufacturers of Renaissance figures I can find, which is here;

28mm Renaissance Manufacturer Directory on Madaxeman.com

I've loosely defined "Renaissance" as C15 to the beginnings of the Marlburian era, and rolled in Samurai and Central Americans too so it should cover most people's definitions – although I have left out the non-Ottoman "Arabs" as they can tend to morph across Ancients ranges (which is maybe another project for another rainy day ..or three).

I'm sure there are some manufacturers I've missed so please let me know if you spot them.

The page has the usual voting buttons on it so you can rate the individual manufacturers, as well as descriptions of what ranges they carry and links to their websites. If I've got something wrong please let me know and I'll fix it!

Thanks!
Very useful.

Some of the voting buttons seems to be on the wrong place. Different manufacturers mentioned underneat each other…

OK – Horta added, 1st Corps added – will look at the voting buttons now…

madaxeman23 Mar 2013 10:23 a.m. PST

Hmm – it looks OK on my PC.

It might be where a manufacturer has 2 separate ranges, and so I have put two separate voting buttons into the listing – like Minifigs, who make Minifigs figures but also now produce the Matchlock range and sell them both from the same website?

Others I've used the name of the range as well as the retailer?

Bears Den had a decent selection of minis, including Gensdarmes. Their website however has vanished.

An old link with infos can be found here:

Then there is the small but very well made line of Landsknechts (and some Renaissance chicks in undecent pose) by Vinnie:

Among these the only left handed gunner I found yet :-)

Aaaah – I had Brother Vinnies miniatures covered by one of their Russian stockists – now updated!

I think Bears den may be gone – see this TMP link

I've also added a blast from the past in the form of Hinchcliffe. I think my first metal figures were Hinchcliffe models… and they are still available :-)

Yep, at that time I still had contact with Bears den (note the last posting in that thread is mine).

While we are here:
lead-adventure.com

A cartoony style, but lots of civilians and landsknechts with unmatched character.

Not sure wether you should include GW or Gamezone, for some (few) of their minis are well usable for the Renaissance period.

BTW: I would fit any producer of miniatures for the 16xx range in a "late renaissance" categorie. Calling ECW or TYW renaissance is a hard stretch of the term.

I've got Lead Adventure in the list – still planning which to get myself too!

I'm using the broad definition of Renaissance that may well be an English Wargamers one… The period covered originally by the Gush rules and now by Field of Glory. Whether that cuts it in other circles I'm not sure …but every English Wargamer probably has a bit of Gush in their subconscious somewhere!
