I'm preparing a Suffren VS Hughes scenario for the upcoming 30th Annual Seven Years War convention. (Yes, I know that's technically contemporaneous with the American Rev, but the con actually covers much of the 18th century, and the colonial struggles stretching into the 1780's could actually be construed as a continuation of the earlier conflict.)(And for those who noted that I posted this on Napoleonic Naval Discussion, yes, I'm aware that it's pre-Napoleonic, but what else am I going to do?)(And no, I'm not proposing an 18th Century Naval Discussion Board.)
I photo-documented some of my preparations on my Flickr page, including my new "Sea-o-morphic" terrain tiles: link Jeff warartisan.com |

Jeff, I always love seeing your excellent models, and I really like your sea tile system. The ability to shift tiles from one end of the board to the other to "scroll" the map is a really nice touch. Incidentally, on the subject of topics fitting in to appropriate message boards, I think it would be good to have just one big age of sail naval board. Maybe that's just me. - James |

Wow Jeff, those are a great series of photos. What an excellent idea for a very versatile and easily stored sea mat. And great paint job on it too by the way. The ships look really good on it. Regards, Vol |

Jeff, Don't forget there were a whole series of actions fought in the same waters during the actual Seven Years War – Pocock vs. D'Ache. I wrote an article on the campaign for C3i Magazine (with scenario set-ups easily adapted to other systems) a couple of years ago. Always nice to see the French with the original white Oriflamme, saves all that bother of hoisting a white flag in surrender later in the game ! Best wishes, Mark Barker The Inshore Squadron |

Mark, I haven't forgotten. I did a Pocock vs D'Ache scenario for last year's SYWcon. |

Looking forward to it. Hope I can get in the game. Michael |

Jeff, All sounds great but a bit of a distance for me to travel ! Which of the Pocock actions did you do last year ? Best wishes, Mark Barker Inshore Squadron UK |

Mark, If I recall correctly (it was, after all, a very busy year ago) it was Cuddalore 1758. That was the scenario I ran at Nav-con 2012, and I think i also used it at the SYWcon. Oh, and by the way . . . for those who might be interested in trying out the ocean tiles thing, I posted a slightly more detailed tutorial pdf on the Workbench page of my website: warartisan.com/workbench Jeff |

Great looking game. I too would second changing Napoleonic Naval to Age of Sail gaming covering 1657 to 1830 ( age of the ship of the line). How do we lobby to try and make it happen? I game age of sail and thee whole period. But Anglo Dutch to 18th century is an orphan child. |

And don't forget the galley / gallion period, Lepanto to the Armada. |
