Has anybody seen any examples of ACW figures (either 28mm or 15mm) wielding spades, entrenching, or otherwise making field works?

I'd prefer 28mm, but I'm just going to use them for markers, so 15mm would suffice.

Would these help?

Dixon has a bunch of engineers doing all sorts. I am sure Baxter at Wargames Minis has lots of them left. He is not doing real well healthwise at the moment though, so his shipping speed may be spotty again. Still, you can't beat the price. THey are near the end of the list in infantry, so skip to the end and go backwards from there.

There is a plastic set of 20mm engineers with several people digging.

Redoubt have a couple of figures in shirt sleeves with shovels in their Victorian Steampunk range. I'd love to tell you whether they look nice with their ACW figures, but the ones I ordered haven't arrived yet.

Artillerists with their wooden poles down to the ground might look like diggers.

"Redoubt…"

OK, so these arrived.

They're not as good as Redoubt ACW figures (the faces are slightly fizzier, I think), but they are the same sort of size and perfectly usable as pioneers.

There's a a chap shovelling (his shovel has coal on it, but that can be modified easily). There's one leaning on the shovel. There's one dragging a sack and there's one "levering" who'll be getting a shovel head fitted to the lever to turn him into a digger. They're all in shirt-sleeves/braces outfits and bareheaded. I suspect spare straw hats from Warlord ECW packs will fit them.

There's also a boss with a megaphone if that's useful.
