The fifth 6mm east front game has been written up on my blog. It is the last scenario in an ongoing Vzyama or Bust campaign. I am playing them on a 2'x2' table; terrain is very urban and I don't really have that much terrain stuff so it may look a bit sparse. For this game, I deviated a little from the normal rules I use, Take Cover!! This time, I wrote a 2 page ruleset derived from both Take Cover!! and Irregular Miniature's Mechanised Warfare Rules. While Take Cover is a fine set, I was looking for something a little simpler and faster, so I used some mechanisms similar to that in MWR for combat, and simplified spotting. It fits on 2 pages without lots of squeezing. I enjoyed the game and the rules. I think I am destined to tinker with rules until I die! There is a link to a blog page with the current draft in the blog post. Battle report is here: link Here is a shot of some of the German attackers after a 122mm indirect HE attack:

Thanks Shaun, always enjoy your 2 x 2 style game reports – how long did this one take to play? |

This one took about 40minutes to setup (setup board, figure out troops. get them out etc) and just over an hour to play, maybe 1 hour, 15 minutes. Note that even though this is the first outing of the rules, I have been fiddling with the combat rules for about 6 years but this is the first time I've actually used them. I guess I am trying to say I new the rules quite well so that is why it played so fast. The other previous games, using Take Cover, took nearly 2 hours, and that was knowing the rules really well too. |
