The M1 81mm's respond to the Company FO and attempt to range-in on the given coordinates…

After several failed attempts the mortar fire eventually find their target, effectively knocking out the MG42 Team inside

In what might be later be considered a rather rash decision 1st Platoon wishing to avoid the attentions of the approaching Stugs clear out the town center and move forward through the neighbouring fields…

Meanwhile the shaken squad routed at the town center is rallied by the attentions of the company medic…

Our game allows a certain possibility of a Random Event at the end of each turn and eventually a card is dwelt…

…the card's event is applied to the recently hit house which evidently has caught fire after the mortar attack…

With the wind conditions (…not to mention the dice roll…) the thick smoke from the blazing house is likely to give a very convenient and highly effective screening wall for the ongoing US advance…

US 2nd Platoon are nearing their secret objective…just requiring the condition of the Company Supply Wagon coming into base contact with the Pathfinder. These conditions were unknown to the German player from the beginning of the game but now it's beginning to seem obvious…

Overlooking 2nd Platoon's progress…

A sniper rifle singles out the supply wagon…

The sniper's shot rings out…

As the German sharp shooter expertly finds his mark the remaining Platoon is thrown into confusion as the men hit the dirt…

With another display of their great leadership and strength of character…

…2nd Platoon spring to their feet…and head towards the sniper all guns blazing…

On the opposite flank 1st Platoon's noncoms are having difficulty making any serious head way with the troops…the roar of German tank engines behind the smoke in the center of town has erupted into rumors of massive monster Tiger Tanks waiting behind the dark clouds …the speedy advance has now staggered into a slow pitiful crawl…

2nd Platoon's held up with the sniper just long enough for the German reserve armor to make its way towards the north of town and catch 2nd Platoon spread out across the open field…

The German FO perched in the bell tower of the church has the perfect view of 1st Platoon's slow progress…

Communication is made with the German Mortar platoon situated east of the farm house…

Looks like 1st Platoon's ponderous movement will cost them dearly…the US player instantly regrets not using one of his leadership cards to get his troops moving…he wanted to save them till the last decisive battle…might not get the opportunity after this savage bombardment…

Things are not going well for the Americans at all but suddenly smashing through the Normandy bocage ….there may be hope…

That's a great report! Where's the rest of it?

Great looking game and it sounds like it was a lot of fun. But what you are reporting bears little resemblance to the Battlegroup rules I know and love.

Nice report!

I mentioned briefly at the start of Part 1 TMP link that while it is actually the core rules used…we made a couple of additions…

On the end of each turn theres a basically a 20% chance of dealing a chance event card (which there's literally hundreds of random events…with the ones that are dealt we only ones that feel right to the scenario…there was only 2 random cards played in the entire game) and each side also have between 0-3 leader cards (depending on the quality of troops) that can be used to interrupt their opponents turn (aka Fireball Forward). I can't stress highly enough how good BGK is but I don't have Overlord yet so we're having to do a lot of guess work to play normandy

While not for everyone's taste our group like a certain rp flavour and we thought it added to the fun…but not at all necessary and we might not use them all the time when we actually get the full Overlord rules on their own (can't wait)

I'll try to finish it when I get the chance…I took a million photos while the guys played…

My narrative (for dramatic effect) doesn't necessarily follow the games exact chronological flow…just to give it a slightly more "historical account" and a less gamey feel…at least that's the aim :)

Glad you guys liked it

Sooo cool. I really like the roleplaying touches you've added. Wonderful pictures again.

Well that's praise indeed from you two gentlemen…I've now seen both your websites and puts my poor effects to shame…

Why thank you Tim. The smoke is actually nothing more than fiberfill for stuffed toys, pillows etc…white-glued to some flat quilt batting. The batting itself secures it together for ease of movement… I made a large sheet of the stuff and used two tones of grey and sprayed lightly from a distance of a few feet and then short bursts in concentrated areas closer up.

After they dried I cut them into 3" by 3" sections and roughed them up a little here and there to give a more irregular shape …In use as the fire develops I can add an extra one here and there, there are three separate ones in the photos but they do blend in together really well…I originally used the batting simply as a secure base but have found it actually adds to the appearance…

The secret ingredient however I cannot take any credit for… it came through the creativity of the neighbour's cat who almost made bits of the whole thing when it was drying outside…took me 20 mins just to find it…it seemed to add just something a little special to the whole arrangement…try replicating that on a youtube tutorial …grin

The cobblestones are JR Miniatures that I repainted….bought them in the Sentry Box (unbelievably brilliant games store) in Calgary…so just a short hop, skip and a jump from where you are… ;)…if you decide to drop over I'll make the long and arduous journey down from Edmonton myself and might even buy you a Timmies (I said might…)wink
