Hi Guys
I've posted an AAR of a MAURICE battle played last Sunday at the League of Ancients.
My opponents were Darren and his son Declan (I hope I've spelt that correctly).
As this was an introduction to Maurice for them I simply slapped down some terrain and provided both armies.
Darren decided to defend and the objective was the town of Declansplatz.
Darren used my yet to be rebased Seven Years War Russians.
They had the National Advantages 'Steady Lads' and Maison du Roi.
Army ORBAT
1x Elite cavalry (Horse Guards)
2 x Trained Cavalry
1 x Elite Reg Infantry (Foot Guards)
5 x Trained Reg Infantry
4 x Artillery

My army was Prussians (1806 variety).
Army ORBAT
3 x Trained Cavalry
2 x Elite Infantry (combined Grenadiers)
5 x Trained Infantry
2 x Artillery
1 x irregular Infantry (Jagers)

National Advantages for my guys were 'Great Captain' and 'Artillery Academy'. The last was to prove totally useless to an army having the princely sum of 2 (count 'em), 2 guns.
Please read more of the brief AAR at my blog:

Nice write up. I have Maurice but have not played it. I think I am going dig out the rules and give them a whirl.

I am carefully reading Maurice and like it. I finally decided on my long-shelved SYW project to base everything on 40mmx30mm bases in 4-base units to use for both Maurice and Black Powder. In a pinch, I could play Age of Honor (F&F variant for 18th century) by making each stand equal 2 stands or something else similar.

I always thought the National Advantage "Maison du Roi" was suited to campaign play and didn't give it much thought until someone used it against me in a pick up game. I have a new respect for guards units since that battle. Thanks yet again for your AAR and great photos.

Hi guys
Glad you liked the very brief write up. I highly recommend Maurice to you all.
