I have 200 Gripping Beast plastic 28mm minis superglued to renedra plastic bases.

I had originally based on round individual bases.

Now I want to rebase on multiple mini bases.

How would members safely (both to me and the mini) remove the mini from the old base?

Many of them have Milliput built up around the base of the mini, with flock and paint to boot.

Advice appreciated.

Thanks

Darren

Drill hole in wooden board slightly smaller than the dia. of the base. Put figure through hole so bottom of base is facing up. Sit with the board across your knees. Have a blanket or padded box under the figure to catch it safely. Take a dowel or metal rod about 1/2 in dia to act as a punch and place it in the center of the base. Strike the punch with a hammer. CA glue does not like shocks. It will likely crack and the figure will come loose. Freezing the figure before hand will make the glue even more brittle. You may have to clean up the bottom of the lead base with a file, knife or rotery tool.

Another method is to grasp the plastic base between two pliers and twist the pliers in opposite directions to pop off the figure. Good luck

No desire to make the single bases into multiples by gluing them together? Might be a bit easier that way.

Don't know if this helps you, but I recently mounted on bases individual Lord of the Rings figures. Where the circular bases were too large, I trimmed them with a small saw. Once mounted on my larger base, I filled in the voids with white glue and sand/balast, then flocked. Worked for me.

Cheers,
George

I'd clip most of the base of with cutters/pliers then lever the rest off with a modelling knife.
Actually I'd probably use a disc sander on the remainder but that's only cos I've got one so not generally a helpful tip.
