Ok new set of rules for 2013, am looking into possibility of skirmishing the later Samurai period, apologies, just starting into period so don't know correct terminology. I know Osprey are releasing Ronin later this year, but also liking the look and feel of small unit action in SAGA. How transferable would these be?

Before taking on a samurai band thought I would cut my teeth on the rebellious masses with the Ikko Ikki, any suggestions as to how to compose a force.

I'm thinking

Allied Samurai Warlord – Hearthguard

1 x Unit Samura – Hearthguard (mix of mtd and ft) – 8
1 x unit of monks – warriors (naginata) – 8
1 x unit Ikko Ikki – foot (mixed weapons) – Levy – 12
1 x xunit Ikko Ikki – musket – Levy – 8
1 x unit monks – bow – warriors – 8

Also do Kingsford Miniatures and Perry's mix in same units?

Cheers as always

There has been some discussion of this on the Saga group at link

It's kind of funny, because this is something I had little to no interest in. But now with Saga, and plastic figs available, it is tempting…

It was always the number of figs involved that put me off, yes Peter Pig do a stunning range in 15mm, but for me it has to be 28mm, now with SAGA it looks like there might be a set that capture smaller unit actions really well and make it practical in terms of cost.

JB, I feel that Kingsford Miniatures are a bit larger than Perry's. However some of our customers have mixed them. Our Yahoo! Newsletter has some comparative pics and its easy to join.

Did not know about Saga. Grateful for the info, thanks.

Where did I put that picture…

Fat redhead is 6 feet tall. The other two guys are born-and-raised-in-Japan Japanese. Notice that the three girls are barely 5 feet tall.

Not to mention this one:

As long as the equipment is about the same size (and pre-industrial armies avoid that issue, too), I really don't care what the individual model heights are.
