Four Questions:
I have just gotten a nice lot of axis and allied figures.

I am torn between doing them for the desert and for snow and ice. Does anyone have any inspiration blogs sites with pictures?

I have heard that some folks use these figures with the NUTS rules and the War Without End suppliment. Again is there a site that compares the two approaches? Have you done it that way?

Has anyone used regular GIs (not everyone gets the new toys idea) along with the DT figures? How does it work out game-wise? What brand of figures look right with the DT figures?

Finally, are there any painting tutorials for these? I would love to see your stuff!

Thanks!

You will want 1/48 figures (scale models, not minis). The Dust Tactics minis are much taller than even 'big 28mm'. Good news is that Tamiya makes a lot of 1/48 WW2 models, including things like a deuce-and-a-half, jeep, and kubel/schwimmwagen.

SO Dust Tactics is full O scale aka 1/48?

I have a painted Dust Tactics army and play Nuts! War Without End. I also have a few Hobby Boss 1:48 tanks and they are exactly the right size. Everything from 1:48 from Tamiya, Italieri could be used I guess.

Here is a nice scale comparison;

Here are some 1/48 reviews:

Here is a nice shop with 1:48 models (but I never ordered there because of high shipping costs):

I have some NOCH O-scale trees and while they are perfect for gaming, they are rather small compared to 1/48 size.

Do you know about this:

I added some more stats for the revised core set to this as well.

Nuts! Rules are great. I play them solitaire. If you are interested – I made character cards pdfs for each individual character in my armies which makes setting up a quick game much easier. Pick a squad and off you go! I even try to add some RPG elements in with GMemulator, but that's another story.

Hope this helps!

DrH,
I think NUTS will be the way to go. I like the idea of both solo gaming and co-oping. The links were very useful and I would love to see your character cards.

Here are two of my character cards sheets. Move lengths are in cm for the moment. Some character attributes are of my own making.
